Back in 2015, I got Reddit gold for the first time (for a Snake Eater reference no less!) and found myself scrolling through the benefits of a gold membership. Nothing seemed really interesting, especially since I'm not in the US, but there was one little icon of a cartoony bomb with the words "video games" and "1 month of premium" that caught my eye.
Then I saw the site had this weird webseries called Metal Gear Scanlon. Two guys play through the entirety of Metal Gear Solid - one is playing for the first time and the other has played it to death. Metal Gear is my favorite game series and that sounds like a fun concept. Why not?
I've been a premium subscriber ever since, keeping up with content from current and former members of the site. No, I wasn't there for the old days (unfortunately for me) but GB quickly grew to be a huge part of my daily life. My time since 2015 has been volatile, for lack of a better term, but the constant stream of amazing content was like a port in a storm.
Dan, your infectious enthusiasm and youthful joy played a huge role in bringing me to this site and I'm so very thankful for that. It's been a pleasure hearing your stories every week (day?) and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sad to see you go. Maybe "crushed" would be more fitting.
Wishing you the best and I'm excited to see what's next for you!
