How did this happen? 0

The question that will never get answered, although we can guess, is how this game turned into such a shit show? The setup...You play as V. He's a mercenary and does odd jobs for money. You can go kill people or deliver special items. The problem V runs into is that a heist he was in on went bad. To make things worse he put a bad chip in his head. What makes it bad is that it is corrupt and ends up putting the consciousness of another person into his. Enter Johny Silverhand, aka Keanu Reeves. J...

Not the worst, also not the best 0

I had such high hopes but low expectations. This game comes in closer to the latter.Cal Kestis is a former Jedi padawan that has been in hiding for several years after the execution of Order 66. He reveals his connection to the Force and subsequently has to run for his life. He meets up with the crew of the Mantis and they team up to try to restore the Jedi Order. It won't be easy since the Imperial group of Inquisitors will be chasing them trying to finish what they started... killing all of t...

Not The Gears Some Are Looking For 0

It was a lot like Gears of War but it also wasn't.The follow up to Gears of War 4, Gears 5 picks back up with the same crew. This time they are trying to find answers about Kait's past. Their quest takes them to many places many places but also leads to many more questions. The story takes Kait and the rest of the Gears to a battle that none of them were prepared for.As a long time fan of the series I was looking forward to this game but tried to keep my expectations tempered. I expected the gam...

Wolfenstein: The New Order - Review 0

I might be five years late to this game but damn was this good.B.J. Blazkowicz is back and he's at his old game of killing Nazis. In an alternate time line type of narrative, Blazkowicz is fighting for the Allies against the Nazis but things are not going well. He is part of a final assault to stop the Nazi war machine but things go poorly and Blazkowicz is gravely injured. Over the course of fourteen years, he has had time to heal but the Nazis have continued their campaign to take over the wor...

Let's be honest, a lot of other people liked this game better than I did. 0

The sequel that is a prequel, Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in the time line before the story of the much revered Red Dead Redemption. The main story is based around the adventures of Arthur Morgan as we works as the second hand man of Dutch van der Linde. The Van der Linde gang finds itself on hard times and running from an attempted score in the town of Blackwater that went awry. Living much as nomads, the gang must keep moving to avoid the law and Pinkertons. As they move they must also t...

It's OK, I guess 0

Unsurprising, that is about the best I can say for this game.Lara Croft is once again on the trail of adventure. Trinity is still at large and trying to take over the world, again. This adventure takes Lara to South America to meet up with old and new friends and foes alike. This is the third game in this reboot of the the series and unfortunately the story is just as mailed in as the first two. The setting may have changed but it is more of the same half-hearted and short-sheeted emotional miss...

The Best Swinging Game of the Year 0

Like swinging? No, not the kind that involves other people. The kind that has you tethering yourself to buildings and flying through the air. Then there is a game you should play. The story in Marvel's Spider-Man is set in a stage where Spider-Man is already Spider-Man. The story doesn't cover how or when he got his powers. In fact it is set in a time when he has already defeated several foes and incarcerated them in The Raft. It also picks up after Peter Parker and MJ Watson were a thing and the...

God of War (2018) - Review 0

In the year of our Lord, 2018, the last thing I ever imaged writing about was a God of War game... much less how much I enjoyed it.An untold number of years have passed since Kratos left Sparta. His life away from the other Gods has been as quiet and unnoticeable as he could possibly keep it. A house in the woods, a wife, and a child have been his life. The story picks up after his wife has died and Kratos has reluctantly become a single father. Not only does he have to raise his son on his own ...

Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Review 0

A game that is far better than it had any reason to be.Normally prequels, whether in games or in movies, aren't welcomed or worthwhile. This game breaks that stigma. The story line of Life is Strange: Before the Storm takes place before the events of the original Life is Strange but after the plot point of Max leaving Arcadia Bay. This setup left many people upset because the main character of the original would not be in the game. Mentions by Chloe are the only ghosts of Max even existing. Fans...

Star Wars: Battlefront II 0

This is not the Star Wars game you are looking for.Returning to the Star Wars universe with a new Battlefront game should have been a glorious occasion. However, that is by far not the case. The choices made by the developers and EA have tragically mired what could have been a great game into a state of failure that it is likely to never recover from. The talk will focus on the microtransactions but the problems are much deeper. One of the main gripes of the previous game was the lack of a proper...

South Park: The Fractured But Whole 0

Of course I want more South Park.Picking up where The Stick of Truth left off we find the lads of South Park still adventuring. This time they are playing super heroes and they must find the source of evil that is causing crime in their beloved town. The Stick of Truth was a huge homage to the South Park universe and The Fractured But Whole is no different. Even though I haven't seen much of the show over the last few years there are still familiar call-outs and references. There is a strong chan...

Destiny 2 0

The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing people he didn't exist. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy 0

You know you want more Uncharted, even without Nathan Drake. The quest for fortune can make strange bedfellows. Case in point Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross. Chloe a former flame of Nathan Drake is seeking one of the world's greatest unfound treasures, one that was her father's obsession. Nadine is in a bit of a slump, she lost her private army backing a group that ultimately got taken down by the Drakes. Both want the money that the treasure will bring them but both are looking for something more...

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series 0

Of course it's not as good as the show.In Westeros nobody is ever safe nor is there time to rest. Follow the plight of the Forrester family as they try to save themselves and their kingdom. The story parallels that of the television show starting at the events of the Red Wedding. From there the focus is on several members of House Forrester. The brothers are tasked with trying to rule their land while their sister tries to barter alliances in King's Landing. There is also an arc that finds one ...

Nex Machina 0

Housemarque is at it again with another gem.Normally I would start a review with a synopsis of the game's story but this game doesn't really have one. You jump right into the game with no set up or instruction. Immediately you are thrown into the top-down twin stick shooter with only a gun. Follow your instincts and start killing what you think are the enemies. If you get lucky you'll get some drops that help you in the way of an upgraded dash or extra shield. The blood-thirsty of us will keep f...

NieR: Automata 0

It had its moments, some better than others. In the distant future, humanity doesn’t live on Earth. It was lost long ago when aliens attacked and humanity fled to the moon. For centuries humanity has been trying to reclaim their home by sending androids to fight the machines that rule the Earth. In this never ending struggle 2B is paired with 9S. Their task is the same as all other androids, to defeat the machines so the Earth is safe for humanity once again. This task sounds simple but it...

Mass Effect: Andromeda 0

It's like Halo 4 all over again. The Andromeda Initiative is the columniation of a vast array of species sent together to explore and populate the universe outside of the Milky Way galaxy. With no Mass Effect relays to take them there, these explorers have built massive arks to carry them across the galaxy while they are in cryo pods waiting to be awakened in their new home. Even with the best of plans things can go wrong. Humanity's ark, the Hyperion, finds itself in this situation from the very...

Horizon: Zero Dawn 0

After finishing this game, there is still that overwhelming feeling that it went well beyond expectations and did so in great fashion. The story revolves around Aloy, a young women trained as a hunter in order to survive the savage world she lives in. She is a motherless child raised as an outcast by a fellow outcast, Rost. Her desire to understand herself draws her directly into a civilization she knows or cares very little for. As she digs deeper into her own past she finds that there is a grea...
