This is honestly something that has miffed me off this whole generation. Nintendo ignores certain IPs and are tone deaf to what people want? They get shit on and rightfully so. Valve refuses to make actual games anymore and tease an upcoming game only to reveal it's a shitty digital card game? They get shit on and rightfully so.

Activision pulls the same shit as Nintendo and Valve? They get a free pass apparently just because of their licensed games like their typical Superhero stuff or Destiny or just the fact they are putting out Destiny and Call of Duty. The fact they couldn't even get their own mascot (Pitfall Harry) right during fourth generation was downright embarrassing considering how badly they shoved Mayan Adventure down people's throats. Before somebody says "You are a minority" or "They do what sells" - Remember that New Super Mario Bros. sold more than 3D Mario and what effect it had on the series? Yeah, Mario started losing popularity and relevancy because of that and it's why Odyssey is being so goddamn praised right now. Also safe to say fans of other Nintendo IPs such as Wario Land and whatnot were pretty unimpressed with Fire Emblem's "special treatment" and felt rubbed the wrong way. Only NOW as of recently has Nintendo been somewhat wisening up, even as much as to finally bring Metroid back properly. Trying to shrug this shit off is as dumb as people claiming fans who want Half Life 3 or really any new "proper" game from Valve is a "minority".

Do you know how much I would kill for a true Pitfall 2 successor? A new River Raid game? Or really ANY of their IPs they are simply sitting on and not using?

If they are going to just port games, can't they port some of their actual N64/PS1 era titles or some of their least ported/rarer home computer titles like Hacker and Alcazar: The Forgotten Fortress?

Weird, I played Arc Symphony, Dream Daddy, Flinthook, Kingsway, Lords of Waterdeep, luminous corridor 0, Night in the Woods, nullpointer, Operation Abyss, Sonic Mania, Tacoma, Trails of Cold Steel, We Become What We Behold, and West of Loathing, and I didn't have any of these problems. Maybe I'm just playing games wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Find an open-source game in the same genre you're interested in, and use its code as a jumping-off point for your own stuff. http://osgameclones.com/ is a good resource. You can filter the list by what language you want to work with.

I saw Die Antwoord a couple weeks ago. The music wasn't the best (they mostly played stuff off the new album which is meh) but the performance was one of the most surreal and unforgettable things I've ever experienced.

Musically the best concert was when I saw Godspeed You! Black Emperor open for Nine Inch Nails back in 2012 and they played Asunder Sweet in its entirety. But that was 45 minutes and then I had to sit through Nine Inch Nails for 3 hours :/

If you're selling a product for an amount of money, it's "out". It is subject to review and critique. Period.

Battlegrounds shouldn't be eligible for any "end of the year" awards in 2018 because they made it available for purchase in 2017. Don't like it? Put out a demo, a free beta, or don't release it til it's done.

Of course not. The games I played when I was 6-16 years old were scientifically the best. I know everyone says that about everything from when they were that young, but in my case it's actually true.

@zeik: I think he's suggesting they'd drop numbers all together. I'd bet the next PS being called PS5, whether that's a refresh or a not 'cause people would buy that. At this point, they're at least going up to 10 so that shit could finally be called PSX.

Yeah the next one will just be called the "Playstation Edge" or "Playstation Core" or some other buzz word. Even the PS4 Pro is turning into the "Playstation Pro" or "PS Pro", I don't think it's unreasonable to think that they'll either phase out the numbering system or severely minimize its importance. Apple's the only company that can still get away with that, and that's just because for whatever reason they still get press coverage as if it was 2008 and they're still doing something unique. Nobody knows what the model number of their Samsung phone is, it's always just "the new galaxy" or "the new android".
