Game Consoles Owned

At one point or another I've either owned or currently own a wide variety of gaming consoles. Here's a list of what I've gotten my hands on.

List items

  • My primary console for the previous generation. All of my multiplatform games are bought for this, both disc based and downloadable. On console #4 after the launch red-ringed, #2 had a broken disc drive, and #3 red-ringed. All replaced by Microsoft, though console #4 has lasted for close to 2.5 years now. Sold that to a friend to get console #5, the slim version with a 500GB HDD and another 320GB HDD.

  • 32GB Premium version owned since day 1. 2GB SD card installed for VC/WiiWare titles and a 500GB HDD attached for downloadable WiiU titles. It had a rough time getting a library but the last year saw it get some solid games and made it a staple on multiplayer game nights.

  • Bought the Wi-Fi only version at launch. Initially armed it with a 32GB card but that's quickly filling up due to the several compatible digital PSP releases out there I've already acquired. Now I have 3 32GB cards and a 64GB card, though I might need to edit out the PSone games from the collection to make room for more Vita games via the PS+ service.

  • I got this recently, breaking my vow that I wouldn't pick up a console without a library of at least 3 games I liked at the time. However, this was done for work purposes as I was sent 3 3DS games to review. Eventually I got a decent number of games for it and the VC library, including the Ambassador titles, made the investment finally pay off. Traded this in to get the 3DS XL.

  • Owned right around the time they started doing the Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt cart with the grey gun as pack-ins. Eventually given to less fortunate relatives though I would like to get one again somewhere down the road for the non-VC games.

  • My first PC. At 5 years old, the only thing I knew how to do on it was launch games. Still own but doubt it works.

  • Bought around the time when Altered Beast was still the pack-in game and Sonic the Hedgehog was given free via mail. Many fond memories with the console and while it was given away to less fortunate relatives, I would still like to get one once I know what non-VC games and non-multiplatform games I want for it.

  • Bought a purple one at launch. Sold it for the GBA SP (2-tone black and silver version) once it hit and sold that to finance the DS.

  • Solid purple one bought at launch. Sold it to help finance a GBA.

  • Got a black one at launch and got the Game Boy Adapter for it when it first arrived. Even though I sold it to help finance the Wii, I wouldn't mind owning it again just for the ability to play Game Boy and GBA games on a larger screen without resorting to emulation.

  • Owned a blue camo version for a few years. It was my portable of choice due to the fighting games it had. Sold due to financial reasons.

  • Owned an original at launch which was then given to my sister. Got a White Japanese DS Lite which still functions but later sold that to a friend of mine. Rented a majority of the games played on the system but I've since built up a library of just about every game I really want for this system.

  • Owned a PSP-1000 which was later sold. Owned a PSP-2000 which was modded for homebrew but gave it to my cousin when she unmodded her PSP by accident. Had a PSP-1000 again for a while before selling that to get the PS Vita.

  • Own one that happens to be modded. It still functions but due to my desire to go completely legit with games, I've obtained the games that do work on the 360. Still sorting out which games I do want to own so I can unmod the current console.

  • My first game console. Also had the Atari adapter which expanded the game library greatly.

  • My sister still owns a clear Game Boy from the Play It Loud series. She got plenty of game time from it.

  • Very briefly owned one of these around the time the N64 was at it's peak. Sold it due to financial reasons but I would love to own one again when the money becomes stable.

  • Owned one thanks to a friend. I got a good number of games for it but later sold it as most of what I wanted to play hit VC at one point or another. There are very few N64 games I still want to play but I have to determine which ones to see if I want to rebuy this console again.

  • Own 4 of these. One was bought at launch and the other three were obtained when Midway closed down. All in peak working condition with three VMUs, 5 different controllers (2 white, one red, one green, one blue), keyboard, and fishing peripheral.

  • Owned several of these throughout it's lifespan, though none were the PSone models. All were eventually modded and either given to relatives as gifts or broke through disc read errors.

  • Owned a phat shortly after launch and a slim after that due to disc read errors. Went through two slims for similar disc read errors before giving up for a PS3. Thanks to my cousin, I own an original one that is used to play my existing PS2 library of games.

  • The 20GB launch version upgraded to 160GB, which was recently replaced by a slim 160GB model upgraded to 1TB since the original was overheating often. A wildly healthy library late in its life and with more games coming out for it compared to the Xbox 360, this one will get more additions to the backlog.

  • A better selection of games than what was offered for the Gamecube. While it lacks in quality WiiWare releases, it makes up for with Virtual Console stuff covering everything but Sony platforms. Too bad VC updates are sporadic at best.

  • Owned a first generation US system. Had a memory cart for it as well as two analog 3D controllers but decided to sell it for financial reasons and because I no longer had a good working CRT TV to display it on.

  • Own the Day One edition complete with Kinect. Use it for exclusives of which it currently has more compelling ones than the PS4. Have a 2.5TB external HDD attached to it for future proofing purposes.

  • Launch edition now equipped with a 1TB HDD. Use it for mostly exclusives though the first year saw only a few of those ever released. Hoping it'll pick up momentum on that front since most of the 3rd party games tend to look better here between the two new consoles.

  • Owned a debug system from Midway for a bit but sold that off since I couldn't find anything compelling on it I wanted to play.

  • After the rise of the indies and the initial showings of both the PS4 and Xbox One, the PC has become my go to platform for this generation. Cheap titles on Steam and a large backlog on digital distribution services ensures that not a week goes by without a few more games, old and new, added to the collection. Now if I can just concentrate and finish a fraction of them.
