Oh, someone moderated the Brad joke. I was feeling all nostalgic since it had been a while since I had seen it - I guess I now know why. :)
That alignment chart seems mostly ok, but I'm not sure I'd assign Vinny to chaotic good. Chaotic, yes - but good...? Open-world Vinny definitely doesn't fit into that category. That picture of Jeff though, reeks of chaotic neutral.
Only played through Q2 as co-op. Tried to replay it again few years ago, but it was too scary - the creepy noises and the atmosphere just got to me.
Q2 multiplayer is where the magic was at though. Played so much Rocket Arena and Action Quake 2. Still load up AQ2 every now and then - tons of fun, even now.
I've never really been a "reader" of GB content. Aside from a Jeff review here and there, I mostly stick to the podcasts and videos on the site. But after @austin_walker joined, I find myself reading a lot more on the site. Nice going.
Some really weird comments here for sure - almost like it's impossible for people to separate nudity from sex. At least around here, it's pretty standard that kids will shower with their parents, be it at home before the sauna or at some spa before swimming. Usually, boys with their dads and girls with their moms. And it's not really limited to your own family either - I've gone to the sauna with a school mate, his parents and his big sister when I was staying over at his place back when I was like 10. In large communal saunas though, you tend to wear swimming trunks or etc.
The game in this collection (that we all know) is often called "Turtle" or "Mahjong solitaire"; it uses the tiles from Mahjong. Other than that, it's unrelated.
And like with most "card" games, there are a ton of different variations based on where you are playing and who you are playing with. Traditional Chinese Mahjong is very similar to rummy. American Mah Jongg (also called NMJL, or Jewish Mah Jongg) is like the bastard child of rummy and hearts.
Yeah, there are tons of differences between different variations. Chinese versions usually have bunch of extra tiles compared to what I usually play, which is Riichi Mahjong - the Japanese variation. Not even getting into house rules and whatnot.
I used to be a hardcore WoW raider (08-09) and we used the term adds back then.
That's insane. I've played WoW for a long time and I've never heard of adds. I really don't care for that word.
A- don't create words that sound like other words, we have enough of that already. I mean, same goes with mobs. Who does that? Why?!
B- do we really need that distinction? I guess it's good to know that they've spawned in a boss fight... I don't know.
C- It sounds dumb. So does mobs though. Loot also sounds dumb. Invent better words that don't sound like 12 year olds made them up. Even though that's probably the case...
I've used the term ever since '00 in EverQuest. If you're in a group fighting stuff, saying "mobs!" could have multiple meanings. If you say "adds!" it means more monsters are about to join the fight and healer/tank should be aware of that fact. As for creating words - shortening words is pretty essential in MMOs where you may need to convey a lot of information, fast. Writing 'additional monsters!' will take longer than just 'adds!'. Though once VoIP became commonly used, I guess it's easier to convey that information - but since those are the established terms since forever, there is no harm in using them there as well.
And you do realize, that the word 'loot' was not made up by people playing RPGs?
