I started playing Mass effect 1 that way. But I was still goal oriented, as I was going for various achievements. But yeah, hold left on the stick and X through dialogue, turn on some music, and its okay. Or if there is a secondary TV nearby to actually watch TV on, that works well too.
Was the spoiler bit in their story segment? Because when I'm concerned about that sort of thing, I usually try to tune that part out. Turn off the volume, and try to avoid looking directly at what is occurring until the next bit starts. Well, unless it happened to occur outside of that part, in which case something is wrong here. It might be a bit extreme, but spoilers are an inherent risk of the video game review, more especially when there is a segment devoted the story. Does it suck that it was spoiled for you? Yes. Were you aware of the GT review format? If so, you probably should have been conscientious of how their reviews go, since they make it relatively easy to skip the story portion of the review. Though I will agree that the coverage of spoilers in reviews is a big downer, it seems to be the way things are, and I can't envision it changing anytime soon.
I was just wondering about a few of the character import details. Namely, if you are allowed to tweak decisions that you did not touch in you previous play through. As an example, take Asari Diplomacy (I believe that has been confirmed as a decision that will carry through). If I play through and never advance that quest, when I import my character, will it choose an "Ignored" outcome, or will I be allowed to decide an outcome like I were creating a new character?
Failing that, it would be nice if someone could create, or probably link to, a list of all the decisions that will be carried over so I know what I should do, and what I can ignore, because I really don't want to do everything in that game all over again.
I should mention that my character is already very close to 60, so that is why I want to make one last run through before starting ME 2.
