@sethmode: It's a general statement. Hence why I didn't quote any conversations in this comment section. I simply feel that, in general, people tend to get themselves spun up and insulted over experiences that others had that don't line up with their own experiences.
People are too precious about college and other's experiences. Chill. College degrees can be hard. Not going to college can be hard, too. Also, both can be easy.
The people getting all antsy about Jeff disclosing his relationship with Lang. Firstly.... we all know about this anyway if we have even the slightest connection to GB.
Secondly, for people that just stumble upon the video on youtube and don’t know the BTS stuff; I don’t really think it matters very much when he’s bodying the game!
Exactly this. Also, it's a quick look, not a review hitting metacritic tipping any scales. They know most of the big players in game development. Should Giant Bomb just have a scrolling text at the bottom of every video saying that they may know and or talk to people that made this game at all times?
I love Giant Bomb. I love listening to everyone's opinions. But I have to say that GOTY bummed me out a bit this year.
For all the talk about how great a year in gaming 2017 was a lot of these discussions devolved into mean spirited nitpicking and what felt like social media outrage culture influenced comments than any other year. And these games are FANTASTIC.
It came off as strange that a few of the crew said that Dream Daddy represented a "utopian world of super supportive and positive people" that made them happy and changed them, yet then proceed to tear into minor story issues or a game's extremely minor or trivial problems (build a fire under a tree to get rid of rain in Zelda people lol).
Maybe this a reflection of Trump anxiety or something. I hope next year is spent talking up great games rather than tearing them apart.
I still enjoy listening to these but PUBG seems to be winning categories that don't seem all that appropriate if they were even barely following the hugely growing scene centered around these twitch and YouTube stream games. I agree with Ben, Abby and Jason.
