Best Games I played in 2009

List items

  • This has been my year of the futuristic RPG it seems. Well Fallout 3 is a future imagined by people pretending to be in the 1970's. Such a massive game and such fascinating side-quests. One minute you are talking to a man/tree called Harold/Bob/Herbert, the next you are trying to convince a robot that it isn't 1776. I can't believe I didn't play this game earlier. See my blog entry "Playing Fallout 3 in parallel universes" for my justification.

  • Another epic futuristic RPG. Yes, like Fallout 3, it has its faults. But the superb voice work and excellent story ... well you all know. The music is sublime. Bring on Mass Effect 2

  • Tops my Best of 2009 list and pretty high here too. Brilliant. Use of colour is amazing.

  • Lots of people played this game late/forever. The updates (like the ability to restart races) made this game better and better and better.

  • Ok this one is pretty old. Picked this up on the DS recently. Who needs graphics when you have time travel. I particularly like seeing how the world changes through the parts of history. How many other games feature continental drift. A new concept page maybe?

  • Again, a Best of 2009 game.

  • Again, a Best of 2009 game.

  • This game has split opinions. I personally loved it. It does get a little repetitive at the end but i made it and got my "Jiggilionaire" achievement. The feature to be able to see the best attempts at the puzzles is genius.

  • Not as good as the second but still excellent and worth playing.

  • Not as good as Fallout 3 or Mass Effect in my opinion. Even though the combat in Mass effect could be better, its definitely better than in Fable 2, which basically consists of holding a button while taking damage and then instantly killing everything in hot electric death.
