I did indeed suspect this may have been a "GB sucks now" thread, but I am glad I was wrong and came by and read what you're feeling about the old place right now in relation to your current headspace.

I'm really sorry you're in a financial position that made you decide to finally jack in the premium, but I'm more sorry everything combined -- especially your buddy not being a cornerstone of the site experience for you anymore -- has embiggened that feeling into a decision of closing the door on an aspect of your life, ya know? Even if you secretly leave it open a crack for right now with the podcasts...

I hope you have something to enrich you in a similar way in its absence. If the money thing was the biggest factor in cancelling and you find yourself really desperate to digest some juicy premium content at any point during this unique situation, I'd be more than happy to gift you a subscription to scratch that itch.

For now, I wish you good luck, and hope the podcasts continue to stand you in good stead. Update us if anything changes!

Much to the credit of the GB crew, it’s worth noting that there is a ton of non-premium content being produced every week (more than ever in the past). GB understands that now is the time to be there for people, including those who can no longer afford premium.

@brunothethird: lol yeah I have been here since the beginning (hence how I was able to get my real name as a username) so I have seen all of the GB sucks topics and it got real dumb and yeah I hate them to.

Yeah money is the biggest factor and it’s more of a focus thing. I’m going around canceling subscriptions to things I just don’t have the time to enjoy really. I’m old and don’t have the time I used to. I even wanna go 1 console only next gen. I think I’ll go only Nintendo since I love their 1st party the most. I have all the current consoles and a good enough PC but I feel like I’m not really using them all at their max.

But thank you so much for the offer this is why I love this community it’s full of awesome people and I will always remember when I was in line to so many PAX panels and being able to be face to face with likeminded fans it is honestly some of the best moments of my life. Best of luck man! Yeah, definitely the 12 or so years this site has existed has carried a lot of other people's lives through its moments, connections, etc.

I have subbed as a premium member as much as I could throughout the years, probably 75% of the last decade, but have been short some years. These guys have given a ton of themselves over the years, so the $35 is something I try to come up with.

Will be interested how their content evolves out of this whole situation.

This will be my first time having my subscription lapse in six years for similar financial reasons and it is a bummer.

But that aside there is really is no nicer community than GiantBomb and that is worth sticking around for.
