Like all RPG-esque video games, I love how you are trained to be the line last of defense and trained nearly all your life for these kinds of events....
and yet, you aren't capable to equip a mod until you are higher level.
I don't even think its just that people are switching to digital more and more. Part of it has to be the usually not great shopping experience they give you. Its much less of a hassle to just buy physical media from amazon. At least that's why I don't shop at Gamestop.
And with the Prime deal for physical games, it makes even more sense to go through Amazon more.
Austin is totally right about the treatment of people in the game- when I was playing this I got in this routine of using new teams of 4, sending them in with hardly any equipment, harvesting as much as possible and pulling them out and then just replacing them. It was a really easy way to raise money. My wife gave me a hard time and said it was like our countrie's (US) treatment of veterans.
Your wife's observation is CHILLING in how accurate it is...he said, sending another level 0 on a Medium length mission...
i've only dabbled in this so far. is it even worth it trying to keep a core team sane and going for an extended amount of time?
Nooooooooooope. This game is all about damage control and keeping fresh supplies of non-crazed party members going. Sanitarium trips to remove Quirks are EXPENSIVE, especially when the quirks become "locked" (though diseases are relatively cheap and tend to be FAR more devastating, so treat those ASAP), so your veterans are also going to be your least stable.
You can totally make due with a good core team of veteran badasses. Your guys are not expendable cannon fodder. You still need to cultivate a deep stable of guys and you need to not invest too heavily in guys with bad quirks but building up a core group of elite killers with good synergy, good locked attributes, good trinkets and no debilitating quirks is a good way to go.
Pretty much this. No matter what, you are going to have to invest in your crew, and if they start with some really good quirks, you should do your best to keep them around.
