Yakuza 3, 4, Kenzan and Dead Souls. Some of my favorite games ever and some of the best story telling this generation. It's a damn shame not a lot of people have played these games.
I would be temped to agree that too few people played Dead Souls, on the account that it's undoubtedly the cause as to why Yakuza 5 isn't getting released here. However, fuckDead Souls.
Really well-written review I agree on a lot of stuff you said but I still really like the game.

Honorable Mentions:
Killer is Dead (Gets a super bad rap because of its confusing story and the "side activities" but to me the combat and art style really held up the game and it's one of my favorites by Grasshopper.)
Darksiders 1 and 2 (I really enjoyed everything about these games. The combat was great, story was really cool and dat ending. Too bad we'll never get the 4 player co-op game promised.)
Soulcalibur V (A lot of people wrote it off because of the lack of content and garbage story mode, but the fighting and online features and netcode were fantastic.)
Lost Planet 2 (That game is bananas but people did not have the patience for it.)
Metal Gear Online (I can not emphasis how underrated MGO was. I can safely say it is the greatest online game ever made but because of its lack luster launch and headshot focused and clunky controls.)
Nooooooooooooooooo. I'm sure a lot of people would get fatigue after just one yearly release. I mean the Souls framework is essentially the same through the three games. I don't see how a yearly cycle would benefit it.
