Xbox Live Arcade Christmas

Jeff just posted an article on the main page talking about upcoming XBLA titles, and let me say I know where $50.00 of mine is going.

07/30 - Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2
08/06 - Braid
08/13 - Bionic Commando: Rearmed
08/20 - Galaga Legions
08/27 - Castle Crashers

Seeing as how Too Human's demo left me unsatisfied (that's a blog for another day) my monthly game purchase will transform to buying five good looking XBLA games. While I agree with Jeff saying Galaga Legions looks iffy, I'll more than likely download it seeing as how Galaga is my favorite retro game to date, and I've been awaiting the day it got the Pac-Man Championship edition treatment. Geometry Wars co-op has me very interested, and the original Geometery Wars was my first 360 game after Perfect Dark. Bionic Commando just looks badass, and I picked up the NES game not to long ago and liked what I played, but I'm itching to see a modernization of the formula. While Braid seems like an odd title, the way it was described to me was an homage to Sumer Mario Bros. with time bending ability's and puzzel solving, I'm going to hop on that boat. This just leaves Castle Crashers which looked cool from what I saw at Pax, but I'm not to sure what it is, so far my knowledge is that its a four player co-op side scroller.

Questionable Content on the bomb

Now I'm going to say Giantbomb has some of the best gaming community features an entertainment site has ever had. I do have one major problem, however. Lately I've been browsing some pages and have seen both incorrect information, and grammatically incorrect articles on the pages subject. Jeff and Ryan have stated on the bombcast last week that games that are in the same franchise cannot be similar games, but I see it all the time. On the Orange Box page I saw Portal on in the “similar games” panel.

As far as quality I feel that one of three scenarios are true.

  1. Whomever is approving this content isn't paying attention

  2. They want as much content as possible, and niche content isn't too important to them.

  3. The standard of quality is low

I understand humans make mistakes, but approving Dragonball Z Budokia was the first Dragonball Z game is sort of embarrassing. Here's the current information about a Playstation game called Future Cop: L.A.P.D.

So in the game you are put in control of a mech which can also hover you go around LA destroying everyone and everthing in your path. Your mech has  3 different weapon's each one is used in different situation's throughout the game, there is a good autotarget system in the game witch allow's you to lock on to offscreen enemies with ease. This game is really easy to get the hang of with about a 10-15 minute learning curve.

Now here's the best part of the game there is two different game modes and they can be played alone or with a friend. the first mode is where you fight your way across LA there are eight levels to complete the game. The other mode is the best one it is called Precinct assault this mode is completely different than the first its almost like a strategy game, there is two bases and you have one and the enemy or your friend your playing with has the other in the base's there are button's where you can build tank

s and helicopters, there are also turrets around the arena which you can take control of making it harder for the enemy tanks to get into your base, thats the aim of it to win you must get your tank into the enemy's base.

The graphics is pretty good the enemies and buildings looks good aswell as the explosions, there is some good lighting also.

There is one major flaw in this game though in the first mode when you have to pass through the levels there are no checkpoints at all throughout the levels so when your almost finished a level and you get blown up you have to start it all over again from the very start of the level this is very frustrating as the levels are not short.

Dispite this Future Cop : LAPD is still a fun game and is well worth having a look at. “

That quality is below mediocre. I'm done being a hater towards the bomb, please don't flame me, if anyone is a fan of what Jeff and Ryan have done its me. I was just curious if anyone else has noticed a lack of attention to what is approved.

The fall of Giantbomb & Miyamoto tells Nintendo they are assholes

...yea right, maybe when the zombie apocalypse happens. MAYBE

Any who, I finished my first day of Army training, so woot! Soo far from marksmanship though. Oh well...
I found this quote from Gamepro, what do you think it might mean?

"Shigeru Miyamoto touched on his affinity of more traditional games like Zelda and Mario. He also even brought up the fact that the Wii remote may be insufficient when it comes to slightly more complicated games. I enjoy working on casual games, but my interests are beyond that''

If you don't know who Miyamoto is get the hell off my blog, joking...well, kinda.

Reviews I'm working on

I'm all excited about my DS so this is why 2/3 of my games I'm playing are DS titles. I look like a Nintendo guy with this list, but I'm typically playing 360 stuff. Change is always nice, I wont be getting Too Human anymore since the demo didn't wow me. Sorry Dennise. Also I added in most of my reviews from my Gamespot profile, check em' out! :)

Haven't started yet, but it is a remake of a classic

Hello, and welcome to my profile

Allow me to introduce myself...

My name is Steven Beynon, journalist wannabe, and current employee of Gamestop, and the U.S. Army (Infantry Scout) I'm totally into games as all of you must be...bunch of nerds, but it's ok we all are arn't we? My focus is to write user reviews to both assist your purchasing decisions, and to contribute to this fabulas site birthed by father Gerstmann and Davis. Feel free to message me about anything, I'm here to talk games, so lets talk games...as long as your fanboy faction is neutral. That was a creative addition to a gaming site profile. The biggest/immature reason I love Giantbomb, I can say this...FUCK!

I was also able to get three of my reivews on the site thus far, inclusing Brawl, Unreal III, and Pokemon Red/Blue
