I completely disagree with what @drewbert said at the end about how being able to call stuff in changes the game and makes all the crazy stuff usable. It's the exact opposite. Like, five seconds earlier Dan says he never used a single pill the entire game. In the old games you just had all your stuff and could use it whenever, so it was possible to experiment with different things easily. Pretty much everyone I've heard talk about this game says "I just used XYZ the whole game" and they rarely called in new gear unless they needed a rocket launcher for a specific thing. I think things being supply drops, that you call in inside a menu that doesn't pause, and it costs resources, and then takes time to land, all make people not want to do it and just stick with what they have. It's a neat concept, but I don't think it works well in Metal Gear.

This is basically what happened to me. I found a bunch of good, cheap stuff that worked for me and never changed or experimented because I didn't want to waste GMP. I basically never used ANY tools or support weapons unless I KNEW I was going to need them (like anti-vehicle mines and stuff) because I didn't want to waste money/other resources. I vastly prefer either just having all my equipment, or Peacewalker where going on a mission/what you bring on a mission doesn't cost money.

I was a pretty damn big fan of Rock Band, pre-ordered the Band-in-a-box, and as of this morning have returned the whole thing to Amazon.

For one, the new instruments are broken out of the box because of faulty firmware which is only fixable if you have bluetooth support on a Windows PC, which I do not. Also, character customization was HUGE for me in previous games and the fact that not only is the creator garbage, you couldn't even set your created characters as stand-ins when playing by yourself!

Even if you HAVE working instruments, there also seems to be a lot of weird note-dropping and stuff (my brother and I both experienced it, and it seems others have too) making the game just play worse then RB3. Basically the only thing I'll miss going back to RB3 is The Protomen, since all of the new features are bad/don't work and all the old ones are gutted.

I don't blame Drew for not engaging with the tapes. I loved every MGS up to this one, but I could hardly stand any of the tapes or the story in this game. It was really difficult to associate any of these characters with the characters from the previous games, thanks to the recasting, and that's just the tip of the "problems this game has" iceberg for me. Troy Baker's Ocelot is so inconsistent and is mostly just him half-committing to a southern accent. "You're a legend on the eyes of the battlefie- fuck, this is too straining. Revolver Joel voice from here on out."

I straight up can't even watch Metal Gear Scanlon anymore cause Dan's enthusiasm for this game is so unrelatable.to me. I just don't understand how anyone that calls themself a fan of Metal Gear could like this weird, other thing masquerading as a Metal Gear game. It's all of the self-seriousness and in your face themes of Metal Gear without any of the campiness or fun. At this point, I'm probably just going to wait until the last episode to see how Drew reacts to the ending.

Yeah, I just finished it the other day (finally) and have come away from it the same way. It's the best playing MGS game without a doubt, but everything else about it is just SO not what I wanted out of a Metal Gear game. Good to know this series is gonna be Dan being super hyped about this game, so I'll just avoid it.

@thephantomnaut: One came out for PS3 not that long ago right? I think I've played that one, but importing a PS3 game at this point (when I barely use the thing) isn't really worth it.

Hot Yazan references in GB articles makes me so happy.

And MAN, I would totally import one of those Gundam VS games if they came out on PS4. They'd be fun for some dumb local play.
