@fawkes said:I completely disagree with what @drewbert said at the end about how being able to call stuff in changes the game and makes all the crazy stuff usable. It's the exact opposite. Like, five seconds earlier Dan says he never used a single pill the entire game. In the old games you just had all your stuff and could use it whenever, so it was possible to experiment with different things easily. Pretty much everyone I've heard talk about this game says "I just used XYZ the whole game" and they rarely called in new gear unless they needed a rocket launcher for a specific thing. I think things being supply drops, that you call in inside a menu that doesn't pause, and it costs resources, and then takes time to land, all make people not want to do it and just stick with what they have. It's a neat concept, but I don't think it works well in Metal Gear. This is basically what happened to me. I found a bunch of good, cheap stuff that worked for me and never changed or experimented because I didn't want to waste GMP. I basically never used ANY tools or support weapons unless I KNEW I was going to need them (like anti-vehicle mines and stuff) because I didn't want to waste money/other resources. I vastly prefer either just having all my equipment, or Peacewalker where going on a mission/what you bring on a mission doesn't cost money.
