Emiliano's GOTY Top Ten - 2015

As always, some notes:

  • I realized with traveling and other end of the year stuff, I need to make this list now, so this is kind of rushed
  • Special mentions go out to Undertale and Tales for the Borderlands, which I've heard are quite good. I will get to them once Fallout has worked its way out of my system.

List items

  • This is not only my favorite game of the year, it may be my favorite game of the decade. I love the feeling of scoring a goal or making a save. I feel great when I see my skills improve. I am anxious becuase I think Fallout 4 is causing my gameplay to atrophy, but I'm super excited to start this up again. My facebook wall is filled of quick videos of cool things I saw or did, and the easy to understand nature of the game makes it easy for even my non-gaming friends to see why this game is cool.

  • It has been a long time since I was this into a game. I had sheets of papers near my computer while playing this, filled with keywords, questions, and exclamation marks. I found the interface intuitive and clean, and enjoyed the open nature of the story

  • This game is currently preventing me from playing anything else. I purposely got it after Tomb Raider, because I knew once I started December was done. I am not blown away by this game, but I feel compelled to play and experience its world. I like that they fixed the shooting, and that I am still able to talk my way out of a lot of situations

  • I was always on the Harmonix side of the Music Game War, so I was surprised by how much I liked this game. The changes to the guitar controller made it like I was starting over again in skill, and the Live Action element made playing levels different and fun. GHTV is also cool, and I've even had fun just playing random songs on the channels

  • Everything about this game is great. I liked playing it, designing levels, and watching Patrick battle Dan Ryckert. I enjoyed making levels for my friends and family, and playing my niece's diabolical levels.

  • I was ready to right off this franchise, but did a day one purchase after listening to Alex and Jeff talk about it on the Beastcast. I was really happy I did; they took out 90% of the crap I hate about this game, and focused on the things I liked. I thought the murder mystery missions were great, and thought Evie Fry was super cool.

  • I liked this game a lot. The shooting was fun, and I really loved the tomb exploration. I enjoyed the story more than the last one, and am excited for where this franchise goes in the future

  • I am having a lot of fun with this game, and it was super cheap. I don't like the mobile version do to the lack of accuracy, but the PC version is super fun and frustrating in a Super Meat Boy way

  • This game was fun and challenging. The free DLC was also appreciated, though noticeably harder (as of this list I have not beaten it)

  • I picked this up due to the press about this game, and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the modifications to solitaire, and was happy to support the developers
