The interesting failures and successes of an Open-Zone Sonic game has me curious enough to buy it and try it later.
Oh, as for the affiliate thing, I'm understanding that the lights and servers need to be kept on somehow. Still, it feels much ickier here than when I see it in a Gamespot or Eurogamer article. If Giant Bomb is going to persist with these types of affiliate links, then please consider having the sort of disclaimer that I'm used to seeing in the aforementioned Gamespot and Eurogamer articles. Also, maybe have an AffiliateBot "staff" account post the first comment? It feels extra ickier to see Jan have to do the sell like that.
This 6-8 hour story mode is about stopping an Iranian major's revenge plot against American military, political, and civilian targets. The vengeance is lit when a very influential Iranian general is killed by a targeted US ballistic missile strike during a Russian mercenary or ultra-nationalist arms deal in an fictional middle-east region that is a known stronghold of the terrorist faction introduced in Modern Warfare 2. Oh, and a Mexican cartel is involved as an opportunist antagonist faction.
Foibles aside, the campaign is a fun time with some questionable G.I. Joe toys. Neat set pieces and surprising gimmicks. However, a lot of missions go on for two/three too many beats. And by the end of the game, I can't shake the feeling that my nostalgia is being weaponized against me.
@funkyverb: As a self-report sore loser and 'fraidy cat that was tipped over in to buying Modern Warfare 2 (2022) because of it's bot-filled Invasion mode, most of the time what I want out of a game is a COMP stomp.
Ye good olde days of playing bot matches in Unreal Tournament (1999) on Morpheus for an entire afternoon. Bliss!
Jokes and dokes aside. Fair to those that came away with nothing from this shotgun of old. new, and farming games. I didn't come away with anything new to look forward to, but I already got my Xenoblade and Bayonetta sequels this year.
Hopefully that Clap Hanz Golf / Easy Come Easy Golf game on the JP stream gets a US release.
