My list of must watch Anime...

 Hello anime maniacs…

Besides being a gamer I am also a big fan of anime! For starters my top 10 lists will not be categorized by genre (theme of the anime) but rather as a whole from storyline, artwork, uniqueness, and etc. I especially like those anime series that has no filler episodes and are completed. Another major thing for me in choosing what anime to watch is the progress of the plot in every episode. The feeling when you are so hooked up to the story that you just can’t stop clicking that remote to watch the next episode. Also the anime that I listed are completed series unlike Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach that are still on-going and we still don’t know when it will be finished and all have a conclusion.  The Anime are not listed as 1st, 2nd , 3rd , etc. That is because they are all good.

First of is Gungrave, a story of friendship, love, and betrayal. You will be set off deep into the mafia organization known as Millennion where they control everything even the Necromancer Technology. Brandon Heat (Protagonist) is resurrected from the dead via Necromancer Technology to stop the Millenion Organization and how it came to be. The story starts from the future then returns to the past until it reaches their current time line.

The most adorable, teary, dramatic of all the anime that I have watched that are related to its genre. For being a guy…I got mixed emotion watching this one. Anyway, the series will show you the life of Tomoyo Okazaki (A high school delinquent) and the strange girl he met that changed his whole life.

UWO game review

 Hello again!

This is the first time that I'll be making a review for a game, so comments and other reaction are all welcome. It is all part of my learning process to be a good game reviewer. But please have mercy on me LOL. I think it is much simply to make sections to better understand about the game’s qualities.

Introduction:
Uncharted Waters Online has been a vintage game for a long long time started in Super Nintendo then into a MMO. UWO (For short) is not your actual typical hack and slash MMO but rather a different and unique experience when it comes to gameplay. You set out in a world back in 15th century era where exploration, discoveries, and wealth what motivates the people in those age.

Graphics:
The graphics are a bit out dated since the game is already been released locally in Taiwan, korea, japan, etc. but only now it has been released in English and it is available to every player globally. But IMMO the real beauty of its graphics lies on the varieties of places to go. From the great palace of England to the mysterious stone heads of eastern island (Chile). These historic places that only lets you experience in books or images in the internet can now be visited in the virtual world of UWO. Towns are also different depending on the architectural culture of its time.

The variety of outfits, weapons, and ships are all based on the fashion of the 15th century era from western to eastern making it more realistic. Character creation is somewhat limited but you can still have your own unique avatar.

The most appreciated of all is the open sea and the sky because of its vastness and it really makes you wonder how big is the world is.

Sounds:
IMMHO the BG sound is a sleeping pill for me but not annoying, as you travel alone in the open sea and hearing this calm music in your ears made my eyes drowsy.

Storyline:
Each country has its own lead character and story to show. You will be doing quest for them and you will be a part of it. Short cut scenes, large character face images, and the conversation reminds of me RPGames in consoles. There are other quests as well (I mentioned this in my earlier blog entries) that involves renowned historic figures such as Da Vinci, Christopher Columbus, Marco Polo, and others. Following the main story will let you unlock some of the areas that are important in the game.

Newbie System: (Any system that involves new players)
The helper in town and the Maritime Academy is huge help for me to understand the game better. But the downside is that it is too long to finish each level of academy however it still worth it.

Battle:
There is a land battle where your character set out on foot in the land and encounters enemy during his/her travel. I have little experience in Land Battle but skill animations are good and strategy plays a big part like in the ship battles. Ship Battles are somewhat normal and it is not exaggerated like other MMOs. The animations are simple and fit perfectly to the game overall outlook. For a change, your fingers will not be stressed and all tangled up by just clicking or pressing different skills, items, etc… Relatively easy but winning battles can sometimes be hard retreating a battle is a smart move and not a cowardly act in this game.

Grinding:
The grinding part of this game is gaining fame points (Fame points are like experience to level your job class) and the travelling. During the CBT that I recently experienced, lots of players (maybe veterans) have advanced quickly in only a span of 2 weeks. So I think player’s progression is easy as long as you understand how the game works. Another grinding part for me is reading all the information and understanding how it ticks (LOL).

Game Play:
Basic movements like walking in town is easy because of their auto move by just clicking a location in the mini map but this is only available when you are in a town not in the sea. Sailing is easy but navigating and gaining access to different ports is hard. Navigating is hard because obviously your world map IS THE WHOLE WORLD! That is only the half of it, you still have the land to explore to!

Again, reading the quest is a must or you will get lost there are no “addons” like quest helper in WoW in this game. I even downloaded google earth just to know where to go to haha. There are also conditions that your outfit should be good to talk to a noble npc just to get a quest.

Crafting and profession is vast and there are tons of items, equipments, materials, parts, etc to acquire from (including work of arts). But thankfully there is the bank to store this and your own home. Speaking of bank, storage system is different. Storing money and leave it for a long time will gain interest and will be added to your total amount.

Another favorite part is having your own space in the game, either a dorm room, farm, to an island. In short there are many things to do in the game.

Pros:
Lots of things to do in the game.
Recommended for those players that wants a change of pace besides action games.
Educational.
Graphics are simply and unique on its own.
Newbie System.

Cons:
BGM is so relaxing that you can go to sleep.
Due to the games vastness, players can get lost.
Lots of reading may tend new players to quit the game early.
Finding certain area in the sea is hard.
Finding items needed for your profession or crafting is quite difficult.

I hope I covered some of the points of Uncharted Waters and please be informed that the game has just finished its Closed Beta Testing. Definitely there will still be changes when OBT or Commercial release of UWO is made available.

Happy gaming! - khirmell

My journey so far in Uncharted Waters Online CBT

My thought at first is that I'm going to be lost in this game due to the complexity and its huge world. But what I’m concerned about is that how am i going to understand the game itself and if I am able to progress at all. This concern of mine is actually answered because of the game's tutorials and their "Maritime Academy" (Newbie School System). The academy is long but its worth experiencing it. Having a school also lets you join a chat channel for students just like me and community is very informative and fun to talk with.

One major thing that most players don’t do in MMORPG games is READING! I myself was one of those players that just skip through all the conversation and just accept the quest and hunt bunch of these mobs or gather some these items. In UWO it is different, gathering information through reading is a must! Like for example i was able to make a huge profit by just having a drink with a bar girl attendant and afterwards giving me a tip that the production of Alcohol in Dover (South of London) is overflowing making the price lower. I bought lots of these then sell it to another port or town making a huge profit. Well anyways my point is reading will be your key to your success in the game. There is also a UWO wiki that the current community is making and everyday they are pitching in by giving information about the game.

Moving on, every time I play the game I always discover new things that you can actually do like having your own quarters (As you progress through the game you can even buy a house or a farm, maybe yet an island) and you can decorate it with object that you bought or discovered in your adventures (Example paintings, ornaments, etc...). You can also invest by giving money in some town or city to have new facilities and to be recognized by its people. You can also conquer ports to stop other countries' influence thus increasing your trade routes.

I started out as a Military student and currently still a student because there are 3 levels of schooling UWO and just graduated from the first one. Besides the school you can be hired by players, companies, or guild to do some errands for them. Besides the side quests, there is also a story mode that differs from which country you choose from in the beginning. There are other quests as well that is related to 15th century history that you can partake in.

Finally my absolute favorite part of the game is the sea battles, battling 2 to 3 pirate ship at the same is a rush for me. I feel like Luffy in One Piece (Anime Series), having powerful cannons or big ships is factor but without strategy this will end up in failing. Aiming and maneuvering of your ship are your elements of winning a sea battle, firing at a ships weak spot either behind it or in front of it deals great damage and your opponent cant fire back because the cannons are located at the side. You can even charge your ship into them initiating melee battles.

There are more other things to experience into this game and as you can see i have already said a lot about it. Therefore my conclusion is that this game very different from what I usually playing and I'm having fun.

Thanks for reading my massive wall of text...

Newbie Video Guide for UWO!

Hello land lovers!

I was impressed by the tutorial and newbie system of the UWO (Uncharted Waters Online). To be honest the game is quite hard for those players that haven't played Uncharted Waters series. Undergoing tutorials by talking to the "Helpers" (NPC) and joining their "Academy" (newbie school) is a must for the new players (you will be rewarded at the same time).

Helpers can help new players about the functions of each facilities in the city. They have useful tips on how the game works. The Academy is very informative and will guide you through all the basics. Enrolling in the Academy lets you join in their "Student Class" channel to be able to talk with the other newbie players as well.

Here are some videos that i have made to let know about their newbie tutorials...

Tales of Pirates 2: Great Migration

It is great news indeed for the players of Tales of Pirates 1 that their accounts will be merging to the sequel of the game (Tales of the Pirates 2).  It’s nice to know that all of the hard work that the players had put in into Tales of Pirates 1. Kudos to IGG for making this possible, it was a hard and long journey for their community and finally be reaching their island paradise.

Uncharted Waters Online: Old Console Game Turned MMO

Hello there! Welcome to my first blog article here in GB.

KOEI (Developer) have based their latest online game on the old SNES genre and have developed it into a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Roll Playing Game)... Uncharted Waters Online.

You might remember playing this game back in the good old days where SNES was the BOMB. Well anyways here is a small insight of what the game is. Uncharted Waters will be taking you back in the 15th Century Era where explorers from Europe set their sails to the open sea to find new routes to Asia and increasing their influence or to colonize it. In the game you can be either be Trader, Explorer, Pirates, and etc... So basically one of the goals of the game is to increase your influence on other countries. The game is also historic because of the well known world monument or places are incorporated in.

Netmarble has announced in their official site that the CBT Period will be on August 25 to September 5, 2010.
