Them Indie Games Needs Buying

Just my personal shopping list of indie games that require my ownership but also my recommendation from me...TO YOU! <3

List items

  • Rogue-style Space travel where you control a single ship and you govern everything from the small crew to the ship's shield. Here's one possible scenario. Encounter a pirate ship. Volleys of missiles and laser are fired at one another. Your Oxygen room catches fire so you open the emergency doors to expel the flames. Send a a crew member to fix it but promptly suffocates due to lack of oxygen. Mean while the pirates teleport in, tries to take one crew member as a slave, kills another and teleports back.

Your ship then proceeds to explode.

  • A fan made game based upon the excellent X-Com but set against the backdrop Cold War. Despite this it looks and plays shockingly like X-Com. Explosions and all. Better yet, it looks prettier but more importantly, a better GUI.

    Currently In Development

  • My experience of old-school RPGs only extend to Eye of The Beholder, Mordor 2 (aka Decklin's Demise) and a bunch of others whose names I've forgotten. Tough but fun to play so I'm really glad someone out there is making these style of games.

    FINISHED!

  • Essentially X-Com but with zombies but a focus on the human element with society going to shit. It sounds exactly like the zombie game I want. Worked on by ex-Obsidian employees to so expect some good writing and maybe buggy programming?

    Currently In Development

  • Another zombie game that focuses on the human vulnerability in a zombie apocalypse. Here you control a single character trying to survive with it's realistic mechanics as you attempt to find food, water, avoid illnesses and dodge zombies. You WILL die eventually but when will that be?...

    Currently In Development

  • 4-Player Heists The Game essentially. Some funky audio and visual design makes this one worth checking out.

    Coming Soon

  • From the website: SpyParty is a spy game about human behavior, performance, perception, and deception. While most espionage games have you spend your time shooting stuff, blowing stuff up, and driving fast, SpyParty has you hide in plain sight, deceive your opponent, and detect subtle behavioral tells to achieve your objectives. Unlike the suave and confident spies you might find in films or books, most spies in spy games are more like super powered commandos--more Rambo than James Bond. By contrast, SpyParty is a new and quite different game about the more interesting and deeper aspects of being a spy.

    In a nutshell, unique.

Short list, but very similar to what I'm working on in my list (in fact I took it as a reminder to add FTL, Xenonauts, and Dead State, two of which I've already bought and the latter being on Kickstarter soon.

@zeekthegeek: I could expand on it a lot more but considering the amount of indie games coming out that can get pretty overwhelming so it's really a list of games that don't get mentioned a whole lot (I think so anyway.) Which reminds me I should add Spy Party and Monaco to the list.
