Can't wait! Even though I was rolling my eyes at anyone who was demanding refunds, I'll take more Mass Effect iwhenever they're handing it out.

The one thing I can't stand is all the obnoxious nerds that say this move somehow undermines video games as "art" because you wouldn't see this in film (director's cuts), literature (second editions), or music (remasters). Give it a fucking rest already. Art does what it is able to, not what it is told by mindless drones worshipping at the altar of legitimacy. Good on Bioware for not feeling like some pseudo-critcal pedants' idea of a "finished game" override what they obviously ended up seeing as unfinished business from a creative standpoint.

no offense to Klepek, but Drach sounds totally full of shit. if ForumWarz is legitimate social commentary that holds a mirror to certain online behaviors merely by profitting off of them and enabling them to the Nth degree, then so is Farmville.

and as someone who has played through most of the story (before they started charging laughable amounts of money to continue it), I just have to say that "bad" ending might have been a little more convincing if every single plot point or character interaction wasn't dripping with that exact same nihilistic, exclusionary, heteronormative twang. I wonder if Drach would be willing to tell me what the "good" choice is when you have to attack the 2chin Fat Acceptance Forums in order to proceed -- immediately delete your account and pretend you never found the website?

and don't get me wrong, i have few problems with people who make money off of this kind of antisocial dreck (sup Hollywood!), but the ol' "no, it's a CRITIQUE, because I just used that word to describe it" excuse is getting really, really exhausting.

if you need to pay a premium price to actually get to the moral center of your story, then I fail to see how it succeeds by any stretch of the imagination as a respectable critique. you're just upcharging people for sanctimony.

Seriously? I'm a perpetually stoned humanities major and the sciencese didn't seem that dense: "your astronaut's sleep machine broke. you wake up at the end of the universe," seems like the long and short of it.

No offense to Alex, but "unlikely we'll ever get one" is a phrase I'd never use in conjunction with a sequel to a film or video game property these days...

Haw, this dude's game probably wouldn't be getting a fraction of the coverage it's getting now if it'd never been banned. Good going, Apple.

Which is to say, less impactful than already not impactful at all, because Jesus Christ people, it's a goddamned default hairstyle for an editable character in a role-playing game. There are Teen Choice Award voting categories with greater societal meaning than this nonsense.

I'm sure you've already got over a dozen "well said" comments for this, but... well, here's another.

This is what they should've done in the first place.  Or you know, shutting the hell up and selling the game, but not allowing for such "practices" (i.e. including a coupon for a "competitive system" that wasn't designated beforehand) in the future.

Totally agreed.

While I have to (*GASP*) sympathize with Gamestop if they really had no idea that these promotions were being packaged with the game, the idea of taking that lapse in communication out on your perennially dicked-around loyal customers is as stupid as it is evil.

I guess the question now is whether or not Gamestop will try to lawyer up... To be honest, if they don't, i'll probably be even more disgusted. After all, if this wasn't a question of Square Enix breaking a specfiic, predefined business arrangement, then Gamestop is going to come out of this looking more bush league than ever.

"Preferring not to promote their competitors" just isn't a valid legal reason to sell tampered goods under false pretenses. Just because something hurts business doesn't mean you can just throw consumers under the bus to circumvent it.

How could someone possibly care about this? They're just outfits for your little guy.

Go play Final Fantasy X-2 if you're so obsessed with wearing a bunch of pretty dresses.

I swear, gamers would complain about finding a twenty dollar bill on the ground if they heard a dime was around the corner.

Now now, Mr. Kotick, I thought we'd agreed that you would stay away from the gaming forums. You know what it does to your blood pressure.

I DONT NEED TO TAKE THIS

I WAS IN POWERBALL

Really didn't think I needed another reason not to buy a Driver game, but Ubisoft is nothing if not thorough.
