Well done. I haven't yet checked out the GT5 issue, but that is a sad concession. Sony has had an amazingly successful history of improving on new tech or making it available for the masses, Walkman anyone?
I hope they do not release another console by 2012, I would like to see 2013. Right now I am still paying on a 2008 Bravia, I can't afford (nor do I really want to) pay for a 3D set anytime soon. If they do keep the cells, which isn't a bad idea, it would still be just as difficult to make games on the PS3 as the PS4. I'd rather developers have time to work more with this system before being forced (by guys in suits) to make better looking games on essentially similar hardware, leading to more crappy games that look great on a TV commercial.
But do you really think Sony is going to try and innovate by pushing out a new console, or wait to see what the competition does before trying to 1-up them?
It is a bit ironic that in a long running franchise about war that one of the most recognizable symbols is not allowed. Ponder this: If Germany had won what symbols would this issue focus on instead? Dude, are you gonna get that Zombie Brits DLC? Such is history. I agree that Microsoft/Activision can and should make these bans quick and harsh.
