I didn't read any of this before hand, but I guess now I know so I will give my 1 cent. We already knew the main character was a lesbian so I didn't really care about that. The trans crap is a bit weirder to me though. Why does this have to be in a video game? Does it really add anything important to the story? Also would people really care about something like that during a zombie apocalypse? Seems like it would be the last thing to worry about.
I know this sounds a bit harsh to say, but wouldn't they realistically be more worried about the survival of the human race? Realistically every female would be almost required to have children. Or you know... we would go extinct and all...
We're coming at this in 2 different ways. You say "Why would someone be trans during an apocalypse?" And "Why would they put trans into the game?"
I see it as people (or in this case characters) just...are who they are. They have trans char(s) in the game because it's likely that some trans people would survive an apocalyptic event. And the characters aren't choosing to be trans during an apocalypse...they are trans, and it's set in an apocalyptic world. Given the survival of a set # of people, said survivors would be a mix of trans/gay/straight/white/black/christian/atheist/etc. Just a mix of people, like their are now.
Recruits can come equipped with gear that have abilities on them. So in the early parts of the game, when you actually need gear pieces, it can be worthwhile to "strip 'em & ship 'em": recruit them, take off their gear & then delete them, rather than just moving on to the next mission while they "expire".
The tutorial isn't 100% truthful - you can close an E-hole before waiting on it to open & chucking a grenade into it. Put a mine from the Scout class where the E-hole is, and when it opens next turn it will trigger the mine...closing the E-hole and also blowing up all the nasties that come out of it :)
Speaking of, the Scout (Commando/Slayer) is by far my favorite class. Very fun and powerful, letting you run around throwing grenades and planting mines while invisible. Obviously, get the abilities that focus on grenades, mines and cloak/hidden. Pick up the best skills on the other side of the tree - particularly the Slayer ones - to make her a true beast. She combos well with Vanguards (Intimidate, Breach) and Supports (Empower, Teamwork, Surge).
Redeploy seems like a must-have skill for the Heavy, no matter what build you're going for.
Ironman mode on the two higher difficulties means that as soon as one of your main characters dies, your game ends & your save gets deleted. Yeah... =(
It was a QL (I did look but must've overlooked it), I believe hosted by Dan. Was mainly a platformer, but also switched within the QL to a band-based rhythm game. Mainly, it was a robot that got depressed & existential after it murdered someone :)
