I've never liked seeing a movie running at 60fps, as it just seems like you're standing there with the actors and they are acting, rather than them being the characters of the film. It's a strange feeling indeed. This video of Uncharted though I find quite pleasing at the 60fps rate.

Joe Rogan Experience. All you need. He is friends with Cliff Bleszinski who sometimes comes on the show, and often talks about John Carmack in relation to other topics. I think he was invited to go check out I.D's stuff at one point. He even has Gears of War and Doom posters in his office where they do the podcast, but rarely plays games as he describes them as being too fun and addictive to his well being. haha

In relation to the one individual who said they were hacked in August, FIFA12 wasn't even out then?

@Laketown: I was just pointing out that the game was a complete critical success and regarded as one of the reasons why the PS2 started to speed away from it's competition early on. It was one of the early killer apps that made it a must have system. The way people are talking about this is like they've just announced an HD remake of one of their shittest titles, which is quite the contrary. I just find it silly how anyone can really find a reason to complain about this. Sure they still haven't remade FFVII and anyone can understand the importance of that title as it modernized the genre into the 3d format. That however doesn't devalue a Final Fantasy X HD remake. It's like arguing over which album of a band that is all our favourite is getting remastered. At the end of the day, it's a good one, from something we all like (most of us at least) being the Final Fantasy of old, that won't cost S-E that much to do and will likely make a lot of money. It's a smart decision anyway you look at it.

As someone who loves the JRPG genre when it's at it's best, Final Fantasy X is one of the champions. Anyone who says otherwise is contradicting the stellar reviews the game received. Metacritic rating of 92/100 and most sites gave it a 9 or higher. It's fine if some of you aren't happy about this, but it matters about as much as me saying I don't care about Call of Duty. I'm more stoked about this particular remake than I have been about most of what's going on in the industry as a whole for about the past 5 years. The JRPG genre this generation has been dead to me. There's been some okay ones, but none that you would list amongst the best of the generation. Final Fantasy games used to reign supreme on consoles and were major releases but as far as I'm concerned that's in the past and FFX was the last great Final Fantasy and arguably the last great game the company put out. Some like FF12 which is cool, I'm fine with that, but no one can say FF13 rescued the JRPG genre this gen. As such, I'm excited they are bringing out this game again in HD more so than any title they have planned coming out. And sure, some of the voice acting in this game isn't top notch, but this WAS one of the first console games to have voice acting. The reflective style of the story mostly already having taken place is refreshing, and I enjoy getting inside Tidus's head and hearing his personal thoughts and emotions on what is happening. You don't get that much out of a lot games even today.

As for people complaining they still haven't remade FF7 or an older FF like 6 should care to consider the difference in cost between porting FFX to HD as compared to remaking a Final Fantasy that is famous mostly for setting some standards in the genre, but probably would not hold up very well today as a freshly released game. FFX also sold more copies than any game has on the PS3 thus far. Is it that hard to see why this game was chosen over others? Strong reviews, strong sales, inexpensive to re-release. It fits the bill.

In closing, fuck yes. I threw some victorious fists up in the air when I read of the HD remake.

X doesn't have that, it doesn't have a world worth exploring, it deals with religiously-based ideals, surrounded by corruption, and it really isn't a game that would age well, in my opinion. I can still play VII and love the hell out of it, even to this day, but X? There's no magic to it, no coherent thought holding it together, no central character who makes a difference, he really just serves as the jackass who asks questions for the player. It was a pretty game though, cut-scene wise, but looks will only get you so far.

Spira is one of the most interesting worlds in the Final Fantasy universe, because it is simply that. Fantasy. A lot of the FF games draw heavily from particular societal themes. FF12 springs to mind in this regard, but X is just a straight up Fantasy adventure where it is hard to see where one particular influence has lead most of the design. When I play a game, I want to play something original like that. Something where when I pick up the controller, I know I won't be seeing something entirely similar to another game I've played before in terms of the scenery and environments, and this game delivers that if nothing else. As for not holding up well, put this game up against something such as the latest Zelda title on the Wii, and FFX looks just about as good, and has full voice acting and amazing cinematics. What exactly doesn't hold up well? As for the jackass comment about Tidus, he's an outgoing teenager who can't stand still. Have you ever met a teenager? They tend to behave like this (and not how the younger characters in FFXIII behave for example, which is far over dramatized). And sure, Tidus does take the backseat a bit, but it makes complete sense. He's come from another world and only understands as much as the player does. What you learn, he learns. It works perfectly. It's all good if you like FFVII more (I'm playing it at the moment even), but people cannot deny what FFX was. As I already mentioned in my previous comments - the game has absolutely stellar reviews. As a fan of the games up until about X, I'd be stoked for any of these to be remade. X is undoubtedly my favourite, but I wouldn't talk shit about VII if that was being remade rather than X. I've always found it silly how FF fans fight over the games in such a manner.

Graphics are at the point now where in order to make significant difference to the experience (and when I say graphics, I am also entailing effects that require a lot of processing power) you need much more capable hardware, and in comparison to price, I don't see that it's particularly viable right now. I mean, we'd be wanting what... a 16 core cpu for the consoles to last a meaningful amount of time? 8 minimum. probably 8 or 16gb ram, etc. This stuff wouldn't come in at cheap, and essentially there would be very little difference in the experience. I mean, that would just cover getting up to date with the hardware as is, let alone any new innovation. It will be very interesting to see the direction of games design at this point. Things are certainly drastically changing. Expensive titles are becoming less viable due to pirates and the explosion of mobile game sales. In order to make it worthwhile, companies are needing to sell A LOT of copies. At the same time however, perhaps cheaper releases would allow for a bit more innovation, as there would be less of a financial hitch on the success or failure of the product.

They lost me when they started paying out Evangelion in one of their earlier videos :\ All I could think was, 'even if they're joking, i'd rather watch evangelion than this.'

Really stoked for this. I've been saying to friends for the past 6 months I can't wait for Borderlands 2. It was inevitable it was in the works.
