Good god, I have feed the beast. Quick, someone lock this thread before more old school fanboys show up. Why are you guys still around? If you don't want to own a PS3 then don't buy one, you gain nothing by insulting it on the internet. If you want to have an honest discussion then fine, but enough with all of the "lolz, ur gamz suks"

@swamplord666: And you are exactly the person that should be pissed off, someone that actually owns the system, and you are pissed at the right people, Sony and not some MS fanboy.

Who cares which one is worse? Really, who could give a flying fuck over what terrible fuck up is worse? Fanboys, that is it. Those are the only people that will debate what console manufacturer took a bigger shit on their customers. Try thinking about this from the point of view of a regular customer, if you own a PS3 and your network is down and your personal info potentially hacked, does it really matter that "Oh well, at least it's not as bad as what happened to those poor x-box users a couple years ago", your shit is still broken.

And if your x-box broke are you really gonna sit back and chuckle now that PS3 owners are getting fucked? If you are, then what the hell's the matter with you?

Full disclosure, I have owned the following systems; Sega Genesis, N-64, PS2, X-box, Gamecube, X-Box 360. Use that knowledge to invalidate my argument if you like.

The PSN outage and security breach has kicked off another skirmish in the fanboy wars, and I could not be more disappointed in the lot of you.
To PS3 owners let me say first that I am not my X-Box, you are not your PS3. Take a moment to let that sink in...........got it? Good. Now, why then are you defending Sony so vigorously? You don't owe them anything, you bought that expensive and overly impressive piece of hardware back when most of your peers saved a hundred bucks and got a 360. The only plus you had was free online access and now they have the balls to charge you for that too and it breaks? Fuck them, you should be pissed off at them, not at some dickhead trying to start a flame war.

And to my Microsoft fanboy friends, stop being so giddy about this. The PSN security breach does not "cancel out" the RROD cluster-fuck. That still happened, our consoles broke, remember? This did not somehow undo that, there was no time vortex created, I have seen no flying DeLoreans, both of these issues where horribly shitty in their own right. How does an outage of the PSN help anybody? Do I get a free month on XBL now? Is there some kind of loyalty prize for kicking Sony while they are down? Because if there is, then I'll get in on it, sure; if not then what the fuck is the point?

Fanboys, let me tell you a little secret......you want the other console to do well. I know! That sounds fucking crazy, right! Here's why, competition. If either Sony or Microsoft starts slipping to far behind then the lead company has no incentive to innovate. I remember back when Sony launched the PS3, they had games that did not excite me, a big price tag and a fucking god awful marketing campaign. So I got a 360 and the PS3 floundered. Then, a couple years ago Sony actually started making really awesome games and had brand new, good, funny commercials (Kevin Butler did more to restore that companies image than any of their real executives ever could). Now Microsoft has to get of their asses and build some awesome shit if they want to stay competitive, and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Moral of the story, never let a company think that it has your undying loyalty, remember that you are a customer dammit, and they need to work for your money.

@m1k3: No, absolutely not. No company is going to build a console with a 2 year projected lifespan, that would be unfathomably crazy/stupid.

@Video_Game_King: @DazzHardy:

I knew that someone would call me out on the No More Hero's thing, but I stand by my claim, if it's not this then it's not a light saber, maybe an power sword, maybe an electric rapier, possibly even a fusion cutlass, but not a light saber. So saith the scriptures

Just a thought I had, do I have similar tastes in alcohol with the people that I identify with (gamers and nerds)?

In my later years in college I started to shy away from bulk purchases of cheep beer to buying better beverages. Drinking evolved from a means to and end (that end being drunk) to the end in and of itself, just having a few drinks that I actually enjoy, the intoxication being a byproduct rather than a goal.

I remember when the Wii first came out and the hype surrounding it heralded a dawn of a new era in gaming. I got caught up in it, too, eagerly awaiting my new Zelda and Mario and hey, won't it be cool to actually swing a club in Tiger Woods and OH MY GOD LIGHT SABERS!!!

Then the Wii came out, I bought one......and that's about it. The only games that held any appeal to me where Nintendo's first party software, Super Mario Galaxy was a revolution in platforming, Twilight Princess was fun on a bun, swinging a remote for Tiger got old quick and no light saber game. I can rack my brain but any other games I played for the Wii left no real impact on me. I might get whatever new system Nintendo puts out, but I am going to wait until there are some actual games that I want to play, as well as a price reduction.

Nintendo has lost gamers like me due lack of third party support, they cannot produce first party games fast enough to keep me content and no one else wants to make games for Nintendo platforms, but Nintendo has built a business that will sell a billion of everything to the general public and anything they sell to dudes that actually care about games is just icing on the cake.

I know that it is WAY to early to start making proclamations and or bashing a new console, but this is the internet! So lets pull out our jump to conclusions mat and have some fun.

If you are a gamer that has become disillusioned by Nintendo, what can they do with this new system to win you back?
