Oh, it is just the original story? All of the promo material has made it seem like it was almost completely different, Team Rainbow Rocket, pumped up Lillie from the get go, and all that jazz. I heard that the structure and flow was changed to not be quite as linear as the original games. That's not the case then?

I didn't like Sun/Moon nearly as much as X/Y, so I didn't care for these games when they were announced. But, all the promo material got me interested and I'm considering getting one. I realize you're probably not too far in yet, but so far would you say it's worth it for someone that hasn't even done much in the Sun/Moon post game yet?

Sounds similar to Windows Store DRM which encrypts all the game files and the decryption process running during gameplay really hammers the CPU and causes performance problems with games like Forza Horizon 3. In open-world game like FH3, game assets are streamed from disk during gameplay as player enters new areas and game is constantly running a single-threaded decryption process for those assets. So you can imagine that when scenery is changing rapidly while driving at high speed, game starts to stutter because CPU can't keep up and process those files fast enough.

That's not entirely accurate, and also a bad example. The Forza engine is unoptimized garbage on PC. I can run Gears of War 4 flawlessly on my PC, meanwhile every Forza release on PC has been a stuttering, glitching nightmare for me.

I'm really excited for the return to WWII in video games. I find that era fun to play, like the weaponry, etc. But I feel like I should hold off for the inevitable Battlefield 2 (2018). I enjoy Dice's gameplay far more than Call of Duty games. I'm still interested in COD's story this year, but like Rorie and others have said, no way I'm going to pay full price for this game.

The main reason that's able to work is because Dan's wife was playing on her own (Xbox Live Gold) account. So long as an Xbox One console is set to your home console then any other account on that console will have access to any games purchased for an account/the main account on the console.

Play Anywhere means you buy once and can play Xbox games on either PC or Xbox consoles. This, combined with the home console functionality, allows for the work around of playing multiplayer with having only paid for one copy of the game (assuming both parties have their own XBL accounts).

Idk, this all sounds like reasonable functioning to me. Different audio devices have different power requirements and output different dB ranges. For example, on my ThinkPad T420 if I'm using the built in speakers I usually have volume maxed out (plus additional boost in VLC), but with headphones something around 20% is plenty loud for me. If your audio devices have their own volume controls this will further complicate matters. On my desktop the Windows volume is set to 50% at all times. I don't need to put the volume knob on my speakers very high, but with my dedicated speaker for voice chatting I need to crank that sucker pretty high to get it where I like it. As far as individual game volumes go it sounds like that you just need to go into the audio settings for the game and adjust it to where you want it.

I hopeful that Whedon's involvement will at least make this film watchable. Yes, yes, I realize that Avengers 2 was kinda bleh. But he's still way better than Snyder. As I understand it this movie has been reworked as much as possible since his departure.

@opusofthemagnum: VIP can be purchased separately. I got the standard edition, then bought VIP when the announcement was made they were fixing it.

It's 2 hours and 45 minutes. Add on 30 minutes of trailers, and at least another 30 minutes of getting there early for good seats and you're looking at a 4 hour commitment for a movie.

No thanks.

It's hard to know where things went wrong exactly. Did the development of the new Xbox One X and PC versions take up too many resources? Have a lot of the people who were involved with the previous games left and been replaced by new folks? Or did Turn 10 have some sort of grand plan in place which they were forced to abandon at the last moment and hobble together a very different thing?

Turn 10 essentially bragged about how easy it was to get Forza running on the One X, so that can't be it. And with the release of Apex and Horizon 3 on PC, there's zero excuse for them to have so many bugs on PC. (I've seen multiple people say Forza 7 doesn't use multiple cores properly, which is insane that's still a problem because that was already fixed in Horizon 3.) I'd also imagine the people working on the engine aren't the same people working on game mechanics/economy.

This isn't the first time Turn 10 has tried to fuck over players by messing with the in game economy. Forza 5 was so egregious that Turn 10 eventually gutted the economy in that game by slashing prices across the board.

I haven't gotten the chance to play FM7 yet for myself. I typically buy the Limited Edition, or Ultimate Edition in the Xbone era, of all Forza games. I intended to get the Deluxe edition this time around, not caring for car packs anymore. But with VIP being a limited consumable I'm now getting the Standard edition. If it wasn't for the fact that Forza is still a really good driving game at its core, I'd be completely out.

Micro-transactions in games, specifically Xbox exclusives, is something mandated/highly encouraged by Microsoft's games division. Cost of AAA development is so high, etc etc. Halo 5's REQ system was probably Microsoft's first not universally hated/"success" of doing it. I have my issues with it, but also feel like it didn't get in the way of me enjoying the game. Gears of War 4 tried to emulate H5's REQ system in some ways for their micro-transaction stuff, and that completely blew up in the Coalition's face. Someone here on GB did a good blog post on that.

If Tokens in Forza 7 end up being anywhere near as bad as Forza 5's use of them, you bet your ass I'll be doing some math again. The important thing is to keep the heat on Turn 10. They buckled with Forza Motorsport 5. If Forza 7 is bad too, then they will hopefully buckle again.

I have a 980 and am able to run games at 1080/60 with High, sometimes even Ultra, settings. If you're going to game at 1080p then a 1060 6GB should last you a while. If you want something more future proof and have a budget that will allow it, get a 1070 if you can find one for under $400.
