If you already have a PS4/PS3/XOne controller, I cannot recommend this thing enough.

It plugs into the USB ports of the switch, and converts the Bluetooth signal of other controllers into something the Switch interprets as the wired pro controller. This thing was awesome for playing 4-player Mario Kart without spending the cost of the console on extra controllers.

One caveat is that gyro and rumble support are a little dicey. Their website says that both should work if you install a new firmware on the receiver from their website, but so far I must be doing it wrong...

Hey all! I just got a Switch and there are a lot of good choices for Metroidvania-style games on the eShop. I loved Ori and the Blind Forest, and I'm looking for something new to scratch that itch.

Does anyone have any recommendations between Axiom Verge, Steamworld Dig 2, The Mummy: Demastered, and Hollow Knight? They all seem similar enough that it probably isn't worth it to play all of them, but I'd like to pick up at least one of them

I like it a lot so far. It's funny, though, they talk about Giant Bomb/GB staff so much on their podcast that I wonder if it alienates listeners who didn't follow them from here. They made a joke pretty recently about something they could blow out into a premium video series for this site.

I've been looking at doing this recently too. I've not gotten around to implementing this yet, but this post basically explains the process. This is what's being used by the existing Video Buddy apps that are out there.

The URL that you're looking to query is https://www.giantbomb.com/api/validate?link_code=[code], not /validate.

Interesting, thanks for the reply. I was hoping for something that didn't require the user to navigate to a separate page, but at least this spits out a friendlier looking code.

I'm working on an app right now that's built heavily around GB video content. I know that my API key has access to premium content, but I'm wondering how this should be handled when other people use my app. I'd like to do some kind of authentication to prevent people without premium accounts from accessing premium videos, but I didn't find anything in the API doc about accessing GB user information.

Without that, the best solution I can come up with is to have users sign up for a separate account to use my app and require them to tie that account to their own GB API keys. That way, the app could request video with that user's API key instead of my own, but that would be forcing people to open up the GB API page in a new tab, copying it, and then returning to my app to paste it in.

What I really want is to have the user enter their GB login and password directly into my app, have the app send their credentials to the GB servers, and have GB return their premium status. Is that possible and it's just undocumented? If not, is there a better way of handling this than what I described above?

So this is probably a stupid question, but you won't actually get to play any games on steamOS unless a Linux version exists, right? I'm all for circumventing Windows 8, but there just aren't enough games that I can run outside of Windows for switching to make sense to me

Yeah, even that far away from the screen, I can tell that whatever Roasty Rooster probably isn't for me. Saw the Unity logo in the software list though, that'd actually be awesome if the full version came as a pack in with the system.

I stopped the podcast to play it before I heard too much about it, and was pleasantly surprised. Literally fell out of my chair during the parody of the West Wing title sequence.
