@fatalbanana: I actually kind of like Ryuji better than Yosuke so far. They're very similar in terms of being the protag's partner in crime and shouting at things until they're explained four or five times, but Ryuji leans more into that "loud jerk upfront but actually a nice guy" whereas Yosuke was the nice guy who would just kind of be a jerk sometimes. Not that a character having flaws is a bad thing, I just found Yosuke's jerk moments very off-putting.

It's almost completely opposite for me. I just don't feel much of a connection to Ryuji yet. that may change as I get deeper into the game but his assholery is putting me off more than Yosuke's ever did. That may be because I'm looking at it already knowing Yosuke's character arc and comparing it to that isn't very fair. I'll keep my mind open to him for now.

I really dislike Ryuji, he just seems like a bumbling, wannabe rebel dimwit who needs everything explained to him in the simplest terms for him to get it. I understand he acts like that for your benefit in the begging while they are teaching you stuff but this goes against one of my biggest pet peeves in games: over explaining simple to grasp concepts.

I'm not that upset about it. I'm about 8ish hours in and really enjoying the game but Ryuji really grinds on me after awhile. Yosuke was an idiot but at least he was a charming one. Ryuji is no Yosuke that's for sure.

First of all I think the devs know exactly everything that was wrong with the game before it came out but regardless my constructive criticism would not go to bioware it would go to the people who make the actual decisions i.e. EA. And what I would want to tell them is simple: give your developers creative control over the game they are making.

I did go with Charlie in P4. This time I thought about it and I like English names mixed with Japanese names. like how Vinny did it with charlie Tunaku. The first name I came up with when I saw the main character was Travis and I looked at a Japanese name generator and got Tominaga. My names Thomas so having the first syllables of the last name rhyme with my name was a bonus for me. Thus Travis Tominaga is born.

Why do people still expect games like this to be revealed with a 20 minute long gameplay demo? Yes, it's a cinematic trailer. Of course it is. Especially coming from Bungie, who tend to be fairly tight-lipped about their games, this is not a surprise at all. This is how they announce every damn game they make.

We will find out about the game over the next few months, I'm sure by the time E3 has passed we'll have much of the info we need to make a more informed decision about our individual hype levels.

I liked the trailer. I think that Destiny could use a bit of that Bungie goofiness. It was one of the things that helped Halo's campaigns (up until 343 took over) more unique and enjoyable for me. I don't need the first trailer to reveal the game's secrets.

As a person who makes video game trailer I haaaaaaaaaaaated this. I mean I get it, they want to say they are changing the tone of the game; but that was not the biggest issue for me playing only 80 hours of Destiny 1 (which in Destiny terms is not even touching the amount of time the hardcore community put in that game) and hating myself for wasting my time with that game. If you have a new IP and you want to do a tone trailer I get it, not for a sequelfor a game that a lot of people had major issues with and felt burned by.........

Tell me why I should care about this as someone who was burned by the first game, cause if I want self referential humor I'll go watch deadpool again; its the same low rent crap that turned me off Borderlands in the long run.

My take - Destiny 2: GUYS WE GOT PHAT LOOT AND ITS FUNNY NOW

It's an announcement. No announcement trailer could have shown how they are making a better game. Sorry but it just wouldn't be a trailer at that point it would be an event. They have plenty of time to talk more about the game itself. E3 isn't THAT far away and Destiny is big enough to justify plenty of marketing about the game itself between now and then.

I hear you but this is Destiny and they have a lot of good will to earn back and you cant do that with a story trailer. Highlight more of what the game is doing different to earn back the people that feel burnt. No one cares about the story though I do think it helps that it isn't taking itself seriously it does nothing to convince people why they should care about destiny 2. I have no doubt that we will see more of it in the near future but I don't think showing "we have a sense of humor now" is the best foot forward.

@zirilius: Good point I usually don't watch trailers or teasers at all and only see a movie if it has good buzz/reviews. I was just curious enough to see how IT was going to look due to my reverence for the (first half) original mini series.

The Pennywise in the sewer bit gave me a little pause. He pops up like he's saying "Boo!" instead of slowly rising and calling out to Georgie which I found way more effecting in the original. It may not hold up as well now but I still find it creepy as all get out.

The original IT movie might be up there with some of my favorite horror movies of all time. This looks like it could be decent. I don't know why every trailer needs to show so much though. Say more by saying less you don't need to show your jump scares for us to know it's supposed to be scary. Focus on the more subdued, creepier, quiet moments and less on showcasing jump scares.

Why? they got the game in February how does that qualify for 2016? Could be for 2017, who knows? way too early to tell but I doubt it.
