I love the crazy 20+ minutes discussion at the beginning.

I can only do films festivals and artsy cinemas, I feel anywhere else there's tons of shitbags looking at their phone and commenting the film all the time. I'm there to watch the movie and I want silence darnit, but a big screen is necessary for the boring ass europeans-talking-about-their-emotions-shit that I love, but it's too easy to get distracted at home by everything happening around me.

Blockbusters movies I can wait to see at home, they're easy to be attentive to because they're loud and I don't get the "see this on the big screen" crowd for blockbusters, like the special effects look good on my TV too.

What I think some people don't realize about Borderlands is that there's a huge, huge, crowd of people that love the writing in those games. I've had multiple people at work tell me they play them for the characters, there's plenty of fans caring about the fate of the Roland and whatever of the world, some people think Tiny Tina and Claptrap are the funniest shit, etc.

I hate the writing in this, I do like the gameplay just fine as a looty shooter that doesn't force online down my throat like Destiny, but Jeff's surprise at the fact that they're doubling down on "butt stallion", a joke that was already tired when it was written ten years ago, comes down to the fact that plenty of folks enjoys these tired jokes. It would be too easy for me to judge, humour is subjective and all, I've been in many conversations where people repeating jokes from these games is the height of hilarity, but I don't get it either.

@el_blarfo: You're absolutely right on all fronts, just that I enjoy the cheese so much and it's rare that a big budget game can get away with this level of weirdness anymore, or it tends to be self-aware and is annoying about it.

It looks like a disaster, but a beautiful one to me.

I appreciate Lucy's insight about taking psych studies with a grain of salt. It's a very helpful field that is often used wrongly to search for definite and easy answers. As someone with similar studies, I tend to expect the worst when it's brought up in popular media, but Lucy did a perfect job explaining why we cannot take these studies as gospel while still acknowledging their importance.

Great episode all around.

@voidburger You were not slow-rolling anymore! The weight stats will show you if you're heavy/medium/light, maybe you've upgraded your strength since you tried that mace and now you can use it without any issue.

Anyway just wanted to help. Cheese away, don't listen to the gatekeepers, Souls games are obtuse and can be difficult but (except Sekiro) they don't ask for perfect reflexes, so it's more about preparation than anything else. I hate how the discourse drove people away from them, with patience they're and a willingness to look for tips when needed, those games are far from impossible.
