Listen, I know that Monica Bellucci was not raped in Irréversible. The "victim" was a character, purely a work of fiction. There was no real violence, no trauma, no nothing. Doesn't make the ten minute scene of her rape and beating any less uncomfortable to watch, or the subject matter less uncomfortable to talk about.
That is the point of characters in narrative art, after all - to provide empathic and sympathetic links for the audience. If this isn't happening to a "person", why care about about anything that is happening at all? Why bother with a story in the first place?
Know what the difference is between something like Irréversible and something like SNK:HTTF is (yes, besides the obvious ones, smart guy)? Gaspar Noé knew that his subject matter was vile. The people behind this game do not - here, it is celebrated.
Mechanics look fine. Not terrible, at least if you put in the effort to actually learn them, but nothing to write home about. I'm not, personally, bored with the good fighting games at my disposal - no need for a mediocre one.
Presentation wise? Shitty, shitty, shitty. On both a technical and an artistic level, shitty.
I can overlook terrible and sexist fanservice in a game with great gameplay, or great visuals, or a great story, but for this? Naw.
I went to an event in a local theater yesterday, where they showed Street Fighter: The Movie and Mortal Kombat, and had a bunch of TVs and consoles set up in the lobby with various fighting games.
They had Fight Club set up, and I now believe that it should be much lower on the list.
@snakeeater321: Agreed. I like Rorie, I really do, but you are spot on about him killing the momentum. Conversations never get a chance to really get going before he's off on another tangent.
@masterswanny: Maybe you should try avoiding comment sections for a while, if this kind of behaviour is what it brings out in you. I mean, were you trying to be funny? Smart, sarcastic? That kind of mockery is just sad.
@alex A combat suggestion: you're trying to play this as an action game with RPG elements, rather than what it is - an RPG with action elements. You really need to spend time searching out upgrades (in shops between missions, and by scouring every corner of the map for boxes and hackables during) - as this is an RPG rather than an action game, you won't be able to overcome subpar equipment by just playing better. You need to spend a little more time and attention on character skill allocations, too - the game's auto allocation for your team mates is pretty poor.
I know why you're avoiding doing this - spending time in menus doesn't make for a good video. However, it is what the game is.
@savutano: Man, a good crab or lobster bisque is a thing of beauty. My pick would be a mushroom broccoli cheese soup - not fancy, but when I'm eating soup i don't want fancy.
