I listened to that last Discord roundtable a few days ago, and the acknowledgement of the recent layoffs followed pretty swiftly by 'new hires maybe on the table' left a pretty nasty taste in my mouth, I must say.
What if it was just a PS4? Something portable that natively plays PS4 titles that you might already own (and stream PS5 games to) sounds somewhat compelling, and could probably be made cheaply enough. Maybe you could even authenticate disc titles using a drive-equipped PS4/5 and install them to the handheld over a local network?
It'd all be in the execution I guess, but I feel like there's something to the idea.
Anyone else getting wild audio-video lag and occasional crashes during premium livestreams with Chewiebomb, as of a couple of weeks ago? The program hasn't updated in a good long while, so I'm guessing something changed in the GB backend that the client doesn't like? I'd really like to see it working again - of anyone's got any hot tips, I'd love to hear them!
My current subscription runs until December, so I might as well see what's actually coming next before making any sort of judgement call. That being said, they'd have to drop the ball pretty hard to lose me at this point, and it could just be once-a-week streams of Jeff noodling with his MiSTer or demolishing his garage and I'd probably be happy enough.
Absolutely gutted that Alex, Brad & Vinny are leaving (and all the other departures as of late), but Giant Bomb has always been kind of an embarrassment of riches and I don't get the impression that it's just going to wind down from here. So I'll see how it goes!
Mick and Mack in Global Gladiators on the Genesis/Mega Drive features a black lead character by default, is ludicrous propaganda for McDonalds and is not entirely terrible to play. Truly the complete package.
