There's a part in Golden Sun where you use a spell, "Ply," on a statue.

Took me.. at least a year and a half to find that out, and it was because I loaned my copy to someone else.

Not the same kind of idiot moment, but the first time I found a wild shiny pokemon I got scared, worried my game was corrupted, and turned off my game. Same thing with pokerus.

Anomalisa: 10/10

The difference between a 9/10 and a 10/10 is something deeply personal, and the movie has to speak to you directly in order to do that. For me, this film does that perfectly.

The only hiccup in Anomalisa's immaculate pacing is the ending, and even then the film pulls it off. The only misstep is so minor--and I mean only--that it's easy to forget in comparison to the everything it does correctly.

The stop-motion is deeply human and expressive and flawless, not to mention the puppets are so realistic that it skips the uncanny valley entirely, except for the two occasions where it embraces it, and even that serves a purpose.

The scope of the film, despite taking place over a single day, is vast in the sense that no single detail feels unnecessary. Everything serves a distinct purpose, and serves that purpose with to the absolute best.

I don't want to ruin or overhype the movie, but the purpose and what the film does and says about the way we communicate with and understand each other speaks to me on such an incredibly basic way that I couldn't not love this movie. It probably won't speak to everyone, but even when it doesn't it's still an incredibly well craft piece of film. If you are lucky, or unfortunate, enough to be able to pick up what the film puts down, you're in for something that can and will fuck you up to the base of who you are.
