While so many games like to claim that they contain "hundreds of possible choices with far reaching effects", you can always see the cracks and holes in subsequent playthroughs. However, with Dragon Age, each subsequent playthrough simply blows your mind with how different possibilities there actually are right from the beginning. Bioware has more balls than anyone else when it comes to creating large chunks of content that many people will never see due to their choices.
With some of the best videogame writing out there (definitely Bioware's best), a fairly retro yet complex battle system, and some of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make in a game, Dragon Age is definitely my game of the year.
