Think is Activision's biggest dream, monetizing an FPS through a subscription from the get-go. It would really hard to transition the COD fanbase to that idea but if you start with a fresh IP and make it 'the next big thing' from the publishers of COD then they could rake in the money.

@Kyle: They can, and the first bans are already going out.

I'm glad to see they at least have some sort of protective measures in place.

It's a shame about the Killzone 3 Meta average. It seems a lot of reviewers only touched the singleplayer, while still important, pales in comparison to the main focus of the FPS genre, shooting people in the face online.  It has however been sitting really high on Amazon for the past month any time I check the video games section so I think most people have got the message that the game is awesome.

The Bulletstorm demo was pretty fun, I'm not sure how fun that would be when played for 6-8 hours but I stil have high hopes. Epic and People can Fly have a pretty good track record so I don't think there's a huge cause for alarm when there aren't any reviews up yet.

That looked... kind of bad. I mean their games can be quite funny, and generally quite stylish but this is probably going to be the lowest point in TP gameplay.

A couple of developers (see: Activision and Epic) have stated that they'd like to have the NGP and PS3 versions of games play together. That would be really cool if while on the go you could play actual games with PSN friends and carry over saves/trophies/ranking to the home version when you get home.

I still need to see a decent price, $300-350 ideally, before I get seriously interested. As of right now though, this is looking like my next handheld console, and I think this is exactly what portable gaming needed too, tonnes of power, crazy inputs, potentially interesting social networking and connection to home consoles. Not to mention 99.99% of phone (iPhone and Android) based games are absolute garbage. Both the 3DS and NGP bring back the excitement of handheld gaming, for myself at least.

Oh man, I was pretty set on the 3DS but now not so much. A 5" OLED display and all the crazy inputs are really interesting/awesome. I think this may now be my next portable handheld.

I could honestly not see them announcing new consoles until 2013 (Nintendo excluded) with a 2014 launch. The big reason is that a lot of the publishers/developers are still having a tough time making reliable (performance wise) games and that it's still seems like a challenge for them to make their money back. All of the companies involved still have a lot of money to be made on this generation before they even begin moving over to new tech.

This sealed the deal on which version(s) I'm getting now. I really wanted to play with my Steam and PSN friends; now I don't have to choose! Essentially this means that the PS3 version will give you 3 copies of the game, Mac, PC and obviously PS3, that's pretty generous of them but is also a great way for PS3 users to create a Steam account if they haven't already done so (which they should anyway).

Valve, you never disappoint (except with Half-Life 2: Episode 3 D:)!
