You should post this on tested.com they even have a help forum

He can post there sure, but the PC forums on giantbomb are a perfectly good place to ask as well.

: 400$ is not really enough for a decent machine. You probably can get an average machine that barely runs the latest games..What you wanna do is go on newegg.com or a similar website, pick a motherboard (mobo), processor (cpu), graphics card (gpu), memory (ram), hard disk (hdd), a power supply and ofcourse a case. For your budget, you're probably better off with the cheaper parts, which is an MSI mobo, and an AMD cpu and gpu. However I'm not from the US and I'm not familiar with the prices there so while I've given you a main idea of what you need, I hope an american duder will recommend parts based on your budget. They're probably gonna recommend a, like I said, MSI mobo, an AMD Phenom X4 cpu, 4 GB of ram and an AMD 5000 series gpu.

Like I said, I'm not exactly the most tech savvy guy on these forums, so I might consider raising my budget a bit. But I'm really not looking to build a super high-end machine or anything, I just want a PC that can run modern games.

$400 feels like too little to spend on an entirely new computer; does this sum include a monitor and peripherals?

I'm happy with my current monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers, so this does not include all that stuff.

I'm planning on spending a maximum of $400 (EDIT: from the looks of things $550-$600 is more what I'm targeting) on this thing, but I'm not the most tech savvy dude around, so I'd like some help in choosing the right parts for my budget.

Many thanks :)

EDIT:

After some research on the old tube network, I found some relatively inexpensive parts:

  • Intel Core i3 550 3,2 GHz processor
  • ASRock 970 EXTREME 3 motherboard
  • Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200 rpm SATA III hard drive (I'm also going to use two of my hard drives from my current computer)
  • Two Kingston HyperX 4GB RAM sticks
  • nVidia GeForce 430GT
  • A cheap ass case

If my math is correct, this all adds up to about $420. This leaves me with $130 left to spend in my revised budget; what can I do with this leftover money to beef my machine up some?

The phrase "truck wars" should point you in the right direction for the concept in Forefathers.

I grabbed the demo from PSN and whenever I boot it up, it's just a black screen. But it's not even like the game froze or anything, because if I press the button with the PS logo on it, the loading clock thing starts spinning. I've deleted it and redownloaded it, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

If it's gonna be PG-13, I'm not interested.

I'd say Dave Snider, but since this is GB only, it's a tie between Jeff and Vinny. But in reality, it really is Dave.

I think the more important question is: who is you favorite gamebomb.ru guy?
