Rumble Roses XX is a bad, bad game. Bad as in Terrible

So I rented Rumble Roses XX from gamefly as I was oddly curious how the game played. The PS2 game was not totally terrible, but this was complete crap. Now I know this is probably an obvious choice for crap, but let me explain. The biggest problem with this game isn't that it's a giant excuse to see virtual boobies or that the games wrestling engine isn't really all that hot. No, the biggest problem here is that the unlocakables and achievements are completely nonsense.

The game has no story, or direction to speak of and also nothing to give you any sort of direction. No, in order to unlock all of the various characters, costumes, and other nonsense, you have to just randomly play the game and get things without knowing how you did it, or go to gamefaqs and read the unlock faq. Now when you look over the faq you notice most of hte unlocks involve beating a certain character a number of times, or beating a character when they have the title. The matching is random. So if you want to beat Dixie 10 times you have to just keep playing over, and over, and over, and wait till she shows up.

Needless to say, this takes FOREVER!

Anyhow, the game sucks so stay away from it. The boobs aren't even all that great to look at so I'll save you that trouble.

Fracture-

I think your understanding of the game is fair in the respect that this isn't a terribly good game. However, having spent about 150 hours playing it so far to unlock 19.4% of the game's unlockables- I think you have to understand that there is a subset of people who enjoy playing the game because of the legendary status surrounding the completion of it.

Before gamesaving, this was probably the most ridiculous achievement quest on the system. The game is not hard. Anybody, technically, can get 1000 points in it. The rub is- you have to spend about 500 hours on it to do so. 500 hours at a match ever minute or so and you get the idea.

I set out in 2006 to be one of the (at that time) 2 or 3 people in North America with 1,000 points in this game. I have 470 points now- will probably have 510 points by the end of the month... and then maybe a month from now hit another 20 points.

When achievement whoring had just started this was the game that seperated the men from the boys.  With very few games out and parity amongst the elite gamers- those who wanted the edge had to trudge through this title.

Yeah, I know by now this all sounds like a history lesson, but that is why Rumble Roses XX is what it is. It was that big bastard game that you had to play to keep up with ST the King- back when 20,000 gamerscore was unbelievable and before the gamesavers came in and screwed it all up.

I still believe that there are no more than a handful of gamers who actually earned 1000 in this game. I can spot a gamesaver's card in a heartbeat. In 2008 I had counted 26 tags that in all likelihood beat the game legitimately. A handful have probably done it since.  I have not looked at the handful of giant bomb member's cards with 1000 points in the title b/c I don't intend to hassle anybody if they did cheat.

So back to the question of Rumble Roses XX and whether its the worst game ever? Maybe. But achievement whores will long remember this title- for better or for worse.
