Honestly, I don't really think their conditioning is a step above, I might just be talking some nonsense.

Also, I've figured it out; America plays better when we are behind.

We should kick it into our own goal in the first minute and then we can dominate

Maybe the US A emphasizes conditioning, not so much on the good soccer playing. More a factor of the other team tiring out combined with the team trying to protect a lead which seems to never work out in sports..

uh, not really. We played far better and more attacking when we went down against Portugal, which was 5 minutes in

Then it's more the second thing I said in that game, and more the first thing in the last game, so yes, kinda really.

Mayo and Vinegar on fries is a thousand times better than Ketchup.

Also Mayo on a sandwich, God please tell me you aren't some nut that puts Ketchup on a sandwich.

Ketchup is strictly used on dogs and burgs. Wouldn't put Mayo on either of 'em.

I wouldn't say that was 50 50, Brazil dominated. They just took their sweet time winning.

But yeah, that was intense as fuck.

In the end it's about having people that can hit the net, that last post before penalty shots was close, but rising to take advantage of those moments and not blow it is what separates the clutch teams from the non-clutch teams.

I wouldn't say Brazil dominated much until right near the end. By that point Chile's ultra pressing tactics had just left them all exhausted. Early on in the second half it was all Chile and I thought they controlled Brazil pretty well, apart from, of course, Neymar. If he gets injured, I don't know what Brazil will do.

As for this match I hope to hell Colombia win, Uruguay are so negative and cynical, and it means we won't have to hear anything else about Suarez.

Nah, Brazil was all over them. I was hoping for Chile to pull it out, but it was clear that Chile was struggling for a lot of that match. Brazil missed some glorious chances, where Chile was hard pressed to get them at all all match. In the end, a penalty shootout will be viewed as close, I guess I just saw it differently, and as I said, I was rooting for the upset.

I would say Brazil had the better of the chances definitely, but I don't think they were all over them or dominated for all of the match. Chile's style is always to try and hustle and play on the counter so I don't think they are that interested in possession stats, although it was about 50/50 in the end.

When a game finishes 1-1 and one team was 'All over them' and 'dominated' their opponents a draw instinctively feels unfair. To me it didn't in this case. Brazil just never created that intense pressure that comes from one team being greatly superior. As I said I think there were plenty of periods where Chile either controlled the play or had the Brazilians at arm's length.

Towards the end Brazil were certainly more on top, which is the one draw back to the Bielsa school of pressing and intense play. I don't think the human body is capable of keeping up the physical exertion needed to compete this way over 90mins in hot conditions, and especially not 120min.

Like you I wanted the Chileans to win, and I would really like the Colombians to do the job next Fri. I think they have a much better chance as well. The seemed to brush Uruguay aside in 2nd gear this evening.

You're just being silly, Chile scored a goal, thinking I'm saying they dominated every single second of the match is just stretching to make a point. I will give them credit for hanging in there, a shame they seemed broken down by the end.

Anyways, Chile is out, and Brazil certainly showed signs of some problems on the front end. I've been saying for awhile that I expect them to falter, and Columbia may very well be the end of the line for them.

But... they've been a dominant force before and I'm sure they are full of confidence. Won't be easy for Columbia.
