Viva 2011

List items

  • Dragons! ZZ Top on a mountain! I've barely seen half of what this game has to offer after putting in over 100 hours so it might be the best game of 2012 as well.

  • SPAAAAAAAAAAACE!

  • Best multiplayer shooter of the year. It even trumps Battlefield 3 with an uncanny attention to detail and realism rarely seen in videogames.

For example; If you're a new player and anything shocking happens nearby like seeing an allied explode to bits from mortar fire your character shrieks and cries for mommy. And the more you play and gain experience, your character gets battle-hardened and begs for more instead.

  • With fantastic art, sound and music combined with the sense of adventure this game grabbed me by the balls when it released this spring on iOS. It's a great experience shrouded in mystery that inspires and leaves you wanting for more.

  • Taking everything that made Dead Space great and adding more to it. I'm attracted to horror games but at the same time I can't stand them. So during the last part of the game I rushed past all the horrors only paying attention to the objective. Lights on and sound off. I had to see the game through.

  • I've been longing for a F1-management game since I got into the sport a few years ago. I remember playing Team F1 more than a decade ago and this is as close as I can get these days. Fun, cute and addicting. From the creators of the fabled Game Dev Story.

  • From the team that made Trials HD came 1000 Heroz for iOS. It's a platformer and every day a new level unlocks and it gives you 24 hours to post a time on the leaderboards. Each level is about 20-30 seconds long and you can do it over and over again until you got your three gold stars.

  • In between all the moody "realistic" shooters with russians and rebels coming at you from every angle came a game full with color and character. This game made shooting fun again. Here's hoping for a sequel.

  • A game that doesn't take itself, or the fantasy genre, to seriously. It's a fantastic game when played with friends and a great game by yourself. It released early in the year everyone seems to have forgotten about this gem.

  • I love the sport. I love playing the game. I love tinkering with downforce and spring stiffness and trying it out on the track. But it's not fit for a "best of" so I'll just leave it here. Resting at number eleven.
