Witchcraft and Wizardry
Imperial Summer Palace
The Imperial Summer Palace was inspired by many of Europe's most iconic buildings, including Schonbrunn Palace and Versailles. It's regal, both outside and in, with its gorgeous gardens complementing vast, opulent interiors.
Fallingwater House
It just so happens that Minecraft suits Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, one of the most unique homes ever built. Here's how you can make a Minecraft boat to get to your new water retreat.
This interpretation by Lilnekochan may be our favorite, but there are also these two by NovocainStain and the one Waterijsje created.
The Titanic
There are many Minecraft mega-builds of the Titanic, including this one from way back when Mojang's sandbox was in beta. However, we prefer this French version because it displays the most detail and colour.
Minas Tirith
The real-world architecture is a great source of inspiration. But there's much more in high fantasy that can also be used to spark the imagination. This Minas Tirith render is a great example. It's as impressive as it looks.
It was posted to reddit on behalf of u/Cornbass. In addition to their appreciation, the community offered their suggestions:
Minecraft Middle Earth
If someone started to build a Minecraft world that included all of Middle-earth and all the famous locations from the... wait! Are you serious?
Excuse us, this Middle-earth Project is in progress. It's not finished, but it's one of the best Minecraft Servers you can visit.
No collection of magnificent Minecraft builds would be complete without something inspired by Game of Thrones. Here's one tiny section of the immense and breathtaking WesterosCraft servers.
Above is Sunspear, a city that has been rendered with a very attractive and reflective sea surface. Don't forget to check out the brilliant work done on King's Landing in Minecraft, too.
Consilium
The Dwarven City Of Consilium, created by Creolucis and whose construction is so impressive that it's hard for us to pick just one picture that shows how incredible a Minecraft map it really is. It's massive, and the dictionary definition for grandeur.
Adamantis
How does an epic Minecraft mega build of sixty million blocks sound? Jamdelaney1, a three-month-long creator of the sprawling city Adamantis, pushed the boundaries back.
This gargantuan metropolis reaches up the side of a hill and is decorated with enormous doors, reflecting pools, and vast colonnades. It has nothing to do the 80s new wave artist.
Mage's College of Meridia
Adamantis is reminiscent of the Mages College of Meridia. This cool Minecraft build was created last year by Block Fortress. It took its cues form Skyrim's College of Winterhold. Perhaps it even out-magics the Minecraft Pottercraft server.
The Shining maze
It's possible to literally lose yourself in Minecraft. This labyrinth was made by redditor Chris P and is basically a Minecraft maze inspired by The Shining. Stanley Kubrick's horror film was impossible to recreate, but this is amazing enough.
New Port Notch
In recent history, New Port Notch has become one of the most well-known Minecraft projects out there - so much so it spawned its own subreddit. Only two people created the towering city: LG193 & ThatDutchLad. It is so vast that you will need its bespoke subway system to get anywhere.
Crafting Azeroth
Then there's Crafting Azeroth, the ongoing project to recreate the entirety of the World of Warcraft in 1:1 scale within Minecraft. It sounds like folly - a madman's dream, really - but it's progressing remarkably well and it's a true triumph of human endeavour.
Mondstadt
This impressive build was completed on a 1:1.15 scale and took the Skyblock Squad more than 400 hours. This faithful recreation of Mondstadt’s iconic windmills and the Statue of the Seven will be a hit with Genshin Impact fans. This larger-than-life version also includes interior spaces, such as the Favonius Cathedral nave or Diluc's bar called the Angel's Share.
ADDICT GAMING
Starry Night
You don't need to be an art historian in order to recognize the inspiration for this particular build. Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night, which is beloved by many, is considered the most famous painting in the whole world. ADDICT GAMING You can find it on t-shirts, travel mugs, and bedspreads, so it was only a matter of time before we'd find it in Minecraft too.
ChrisDaCow was able to match every Van Gogh-inspired brushstroke with his Minecraft texture pack in just one month. This result is astonishingly accurate. Their desire to recreate Van Gogh's famous post-Impressionist painting on a 3D canvas gave rise to a new way of viewing this iconic artwork. It's beautiful. We also find it a little frightening to see it in 3D. It's hard not imagine Van Gogh’s imaginary village in the shadow of the starry night.
Elden World
Elden Ring, which was released in 2009, has helped to elevate the Souls series into mainstream status and brought in a new audience. SeriousCraft's Elden World is as much of a love letter as it is a project in its own right. While it is an adventure map first and foremost, it still belongs on this list as an impressive recreation of The Lands Between.
This map covers six kilometres and features over 20 dungeons including Stormveil Castle. It even has its own Erdtree. This build can be used to play 15 hours Elden Ring outside Elden Ring.
H.R. Giger
H.R. H.R. Everbloom Games is a group of master builders who have created a sprawling tribute for Giger's work.
Between the vast atriums cloaked in shadow and a fully realised space jockey nestled in its cockpit, these blocky reconstructions manage to capture the spirit of Giger's work like never before. Space is a place where you can't be heard.
The Cyberpunk Project
The Cyberpunk Project, while not a perfect reproduction, draws heavily on Cyberpunk 2077's Night City. The neon-lit skyline of this sprawling metropolis is dominated and illuminated by gigantic mega skyscrapers, holograms and towering megascrapers.
Elysium Fire created the Cyberpunk Project. It's so big it's at risk of causing crashes to older rigs. We don't know of any other way to make this a top-tier Minecraft megabuild.
Novigrad
Elysium Fire also built another mega-build that is quite impressive. Like The Cyberpunk Project, Elysium Fire's Novigrad isn't a replica of the Novigrad that you may know from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the team takes plenty of inspiration for crafting the build's medieval streets and elegant castle spires.
We have to admit, as much as we enjoyed exploring its namesake as Geralt of Rivia, this version of Novigrad includes a hand-built harbour that puts its predecessor's to shame. Make sure you've got the best Minecraft shaders installed for a true medieval feast for the eyes.
Witchcraft and Wizardry
Although you might not have received your letter by post, that doesn't mean you can't attend one of the most prestigious wizarding institutions in the world. The Floo Network's Witchcraft and Wizardry offers Minecraft Muggles an adventure that is comparable to the best Minecraft mods. It allows them to become students at Hogwarts.
While you can take classes or learn spells, the sheer scale of the building is breathtaking. You can access the school grounds, as well as Diagon Alley & Hogsmeade. You can even play Quidditch.
So there you have it. Games The best Minecraft builds Mojang's genius architects could create.
If you've been inspired to start your own server, check out our Minecraft hosting guide to start building with your pals. Alternately, you can go to Adventure Mode and create your own Minecraft village. However, be aware of the many mobs in the area. If you fall afoul, you may need the Minecraft recovery compass to retrieve your lost items.
