Business Dave? Idk who else would put out a statement like that with that moniker. Otherwise if it was Red Ventures they would just say it was Red Ventures.

@ludovicoheard:

I don't know how you got that the second part of the quote was from RV. As well as I don't know why that phrase is so bad when that basically describes most of the new hires since Austin.

Furthermore these 3 have been on camera for over a decade. Why should they stick around more when they've made the decision? You want them for the rest of the month to do more bombcasts and upfs to talk about how they're leaving?

I'm gonna be real here. Since it'll probably be lost to time I'll say what I said in the whole "should premium be cheaper thread" and expand on it. The last year and half have not been great for GB. Notice I said year and a half cause honestly pre-pandemic wasn't so hot either for me. Things felt like such a holding pattern until they would find new a hire for Dan to maybe inject some life into the site. Then pandemic hit and we all know what happened. The Ben and Abby left and I totally understand their reasons. But the issues that were already present were only exacerbated and I haven't listened to a full podcast from any of the weekly ones in over a year(I didn't bother with hotspot). Beastcast especially felt almost depressing at times with just Vinny, Alex, and Jeff barely mentioning games at times. Not to mention Brad has had an air about him that has made "Brad is leaving" jokes for a long while. I hoped that when the pandemic would wind down that there would be something new to look forward to.

Now having the 3 of them leave was not what I had in mind at all, Vinny especially, but here we are. I'd rather they move on and GB enter another era, than having them stay and just feeling that stagnataion again till they found some new hires again. But then the cycle would just repeat. Now things have changed permanentely, if they're for the better we'll have to wait and see but as many others have said. We've been here before. They've been here before. It's turned out pretty alright so far! So I'm gonna see where this goes and reminisce about the end of another chapter, and make way for some optimism about a new one.

I'm gonna need the people speculating corporate goings on and trying to unlock some secret code how the 3 people who left were forced out or some nonsense to stop.

Found this quote from a GS article on the departures and didn't want it to get buried under the megathread going on.

In a statement, Giant Bomb founder Gerstmann said: "I've spent a lot of the last year thinking about what's next for Giant Bomb and most of those roads lead to a full-on rethink of what it means to be a Website About Video Games in 2021. While I certainly would have loved to solve these challenges with my longtime friends and coworkers by my side, it just wasn't meant to be. I wish Vinny, Alex, and Brad the best. Meanwhile, we have a pretty exciting opportunity to broaden our horizons, rethink every facet of our operation, and get to a place where we're truly able to build that bomb all over again... or die trying."

Speaking to the future of the site, the Giant Bomb team as a whole said: "There is a collective vision for what the future of Giant Bomb is and it involves both familiar and new faces. We're already in talks with creators so that we can begin the next chapter. We're fully aware that this marks a big change and we're using this as an opportunity to rethink what this site is. It's a chance to introduce new personalities from different backgrounds and explore categories and topics that we never have before

Honestly I'm glad they're not just shuttering. Every new hire was a great addition and more or less every decision they've made has basically worked out in the long run. I'm hopeful for the future especially with someone like Jan being amazing lately with his pokemon card tales and his KH playthrough with Vinny.

I think this can be safely summed up as should the price go down? Not really no. But the content for over the past year at this point has largely been lacking and if I knew it'd still be this bad I wouldn't have bought a membership when they were on sale.

@retris said:

@dizzyhippos: I don't see why. They're both world class athletes and Tessa is in top 5 of women wrestlers today and AEW desperately needs someone who could credibly challenge Shida. If you're thinking of her ego, AEW doesn't have the same problem as Impact does where they need her more than she needs them. If you think of her troubles with working with people, she's already got Big Swole and Diamante and others she gets along with. If you're thinking of the reputation hit, they already have a Trump donor whose wife stormed the US capital in January as a main-eventer.

Daga is not a world class athlete. He's Daga. They don't need a credible challenger for Shida since Britt is literally the #1 contender and by all accounts gonna take the belt off her. Ego is ego no matter the situation and anything can happen given time. Swole said it would be a good change of scenery for her and Diamante is still her friend but frankly that doesn't matter since again anything can still happen. As well as that trump donor is largely pretty tight lip about that in his wrestling side considering it's largely to protect his wealth. As well as he didn't leave a promotion in utter disgrace for racist comments, dug a hole so hard for themselves that made it seem like they were the victim, and have the entire wrestling community of fans and other wrestlers completely get behind the movement of having her as far away from wrestling as possible.

Otherwise I don't see why they wouldn't hire her either.
