10 Game Worlds That Are Too Good To Make Movies Out Of

When I first played each one of these games I thought, "This would make an awesome movie!" Then I remembered what the Hollywood corporate machine does to good IPs.

List items

  • Producers generally shy away from mute leading men.

  • There is no way Hollywood would incorporate themes like Objectivism and Rational Self-Interest into a movie based on a video game. And those themes are what make the Bioshock universe so awesome.

  • The Fallout universe is great but the story lines are so mundane Hollywood would feel compelled to "expand" them, thereby ruining the movie as they are wont to do.

  • Maybe it would work as a series. That way they might be able to cover everything in the codex.

  • They would just cash in on "Still Alive" and murder it with a "fleshed out" plot.

  • It would have to be a rated R comedy. If only Sam Raimi still made good movies...

  • Adult themes with a cast of children? "Look Who's Talking" is the closest Hollywood has ever gotten to that. I think it's guaranteed they'd mess this one up.

  • As much as I'd love to see a good Steampunk movie made, I question whether it can be done.

  • It's sort of a mix between The Matrix and Neuromancer. It seems like a good idea but the anti-establishment themes would scare producers into making it a mix between The Matrix and a big pile of crap.

  • I think this one might actually have a chance if I wasn't sure they'd cast Jake Gyllenhaal as the lead.
