@undeadpool: I think it was guy saying "I lost! Too bad" which is... needlessly confusing. But given that same quest has the guy saying "Did that help? " at a time it makes NO sense, it's not surprising.
Bless Jess for her patience in this stream. If I was watching Dan personally fumble through this while making it a 1000 times harder on himself because he can't be bothered to read/look around I would go insane. It's bad enough through a stream!
The Theaterhythm's are some of my favorite rhythm games ever made, in large part because hey, Final Fantasy music kicks ass. That's honestly my biggest thing out of this direct, I've been waiting for one since 2014 (!) essentially.
Also online Mario Party and Pokémon Stadium mini-games is SO GOOD.
1) Blaze the Cat is from Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure, the DS Sonic games. They unironically kick ass, and are among the best. Also, she's super cool, but the one in this game is essentially a different character.
2) Shadow "dies" in Adventure 2 after redeeming himself and saving the world. Then there's like... Clone stuff in Heroes. And Shadow the Hedgehog gets into him being like, part alien. It's a lot, but most importantly he hasn't been a "villain" since his first game. He is 100% Vegeta. Silver is TRUNKS (the creators have said so specifically).
3) There's a lot of reasons this game is a mess. One, early HD development was ROUGH. People remember the really good games, but there's a LOT of bad shit that came out in that era. Two, the wanted to make one Sonic game for every console but then it turned out the Wii was going to be super weak so they split the team in 2 and made 2 games (both are bad). And thirdly, Sega refused to budge on having this game out for Sonic's 15th anniversary so it was super rushed and essentially unfinished. Like, supposedly the demo that came out on 360 has fixes in it that aren't in the full game! Great!
4) I'm assuming Grubb's daughter watched Sonic Boom (the cartoon) which RULES and is really damn funny.
Dipped out of the first video because it devolved a bit too much into just general overblown shittiness about Sonic, but this one was a lot of fun! I mentioned it in the list comments, but I still maintain that Sonic 4 Episode 1 is a worse experience. At least this game is bad in interesting/fun ways.
@thaquoth: Yeah, I've gone back to a couple of old JRPGs in recent years and it's wild realizing how kinda short they are (unless you try to like, 100% them, but that's on you). People act like every JRPG is Persona (which IS super long), but a lot of them fall into 20-30 hours which I find to be totally reasonable. Even the multi-disc PS1 FF games are about that long!
I beat this game about a month ago for the first time (with... less loads). It's bad, but, not the worst Sonic game by my count (that's Sonic 4 Episode 1)!
It is really hard to articulate just how bad it FEELS though, especially Sonic. Had an alright time with Silver actually, psychic physics stuff is kind of always fun.
100% on Jess' side with this game, got it on the Wii U after the glowing praise (and generally liking 3D Mario games) and NOTHING about it clicked. But I also don't really like Odyssey as much as everyone else, so I just assumed it was me. Fun stream though!
