Games you might not have played but should

A list of games that never got the recognition or sales they deserved

List items

  • Nosebleed difficult. I've never got past the fourth level. In fact I've only just managed to get past the third level before getting totally minced at the beginning of the fourth. Yet you never feel like it's unfair. When you die, you know it's your fault. The game has beaten you because you are weak.

  • Also listed in my favourites. It's tragic that this game didn't get the sales it deserved. It is completely compelling and some of the sanity effects are truly ingenious. Lets hope/petition for a VC/XBLA/PSN re-release.

  • There are times when playing Killer7 feels like getting your head kicked in. It's completely incomprehensible for my feeble little mind. I'm sure there's some deeper, underlying subtext but I honestly couldn't work it out. It should be played because, well, it's so brave. This is a well-made game that goes out of its way not to hold your hand. You may, like me, get a migraine playing it but the experience will be completely unforgettable.

  • Requires no knowledge of chemistry. A brilliant little puzzle game that can be a little bit impenetrable at times but once you get to grips with it, it's immensely satisfying.

  • I haven't been into metal since discovering Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five when I was 16 so this shouldn't have been for me at all. In fact, it made me feel 15 again. I almost wanted to sew an Anthrax patch to my denim jacket. The RTS element is a little bit jarring when you consider the rest of the game is an open-world slash-em-up but it's so packed with charm and humour that you forgive it quite quickly.

  • Pac-Man CE is a fantastic game in itself but this improves on it to such an extent that I really don't mind paying for it again so soon after. If you've never played Pac-Man more than a few goes in a Coin-Op arcade then get this. It's revelatory.
