(spoiler but its been out forever ) I was totally put off by the dragon fight at the end. (On normal) lt was so impossibly hard with what I had going- I finally wimped out and slapped it down to easy to be done with it. Then I chose to sacrifice myself, over Alistair, to be the greatest fucking hero of all time, only to be rewarded with some weak-ass text explanation of things I affected in the game (nothing resulting in shit cooler than my direct involvement). My first playthrough of the game was curbstomped by that ending.
Since then I've started many characters, enjoying the different origin stories, and spent a lot of time levelling and playing in completely different ways. I didn't appreciate the writing and gigantic possibilities in the game until multiple playthroughs in. And combat on hard is so much more thought-provoking and challenging. I fucking love the game now.
Anyway, I have the same question if Awakening is worth it. What's with starting a totally different character? Could their origin story possibly be as cool as the other characters I've already poured my heart into? $40 is a lot to drop on an expansion (which has a loose definition with DLC).
Bam! double post, hope this time it's Alan Wake forum instead of General Discussion.
A friend linked me this article from New York Times. The first two episodes are apparently exclusive on NYTimes and the following four will be available on Xbox live and Alan Wake websites.
The episodes are some seriously good stuff, creepy as hell and visually stunning. I've avoided most Alan Wake coverage so it'll be a fresh experience, but these videos are exactly what I needed to get my interest piqued. Also this is totally a monumental crossover between film and games. Hope everyone enjoys them as much as I did.

" I also liked when you guys did contests based off of Wiki-edits, and if a person has 5000 points or more they are entered and chosen at random. It gives some incentive to edit stuff, you know? "
