" Man this is some fucked up shit, can't believe how inept Sony are. How could they not encrypt personal data "

You better get your ass off the Internet then because it's not common practice to encrypt stuff like names and adresses. If they encrypted everything (Iike people are expecting) it would kill performance of the network. Then people would be sitting here complaining about how "slow PlayStation Network is" and why "XBOX Live is better". You know it's true.

But hey, it's cool when we can just look for every negative and spout bullshit about how "shit" Sony is, right? I understand people are angry (and you have every right to be!), but it sounds like they've done everything by the book to me. Taking the entire Network offline when they detected an intrusion was -- for a start -- an enormously bold move.

I'm not defending anyone here. Clearly this sucks, and Sony's communication about it has been questionable at best. But I'm really bored with people spewing rubbish about things they don't understand.

@thejke: Did you open Qriocity at any point (on any device) and start the 30-day trial? If you did, then it will automatically set to auto-renew and you'll have to pay the monthly subscription until you cancel.

I dunno. The Japanese launch line-up put me off more. At the end of the day, 3-8 hours is pretty comparable with what I expect from a portable device these days. It's not like my PSP or iPod Touch lasts any longer, and I anticipate the PSP2 will be in exactly the same ball-park.

" I remember back when the PSP numbers were released for battery life, and almost everyone went berated Sony for how bad it was. Now, when Nintendo releases a handheld with poor battery life (yes it is poor), the majority doesn't seem to care. That really is quite funny. "
I was just about to post this, if this were the PSP we were talking about people would go APE SHIT, but for some reason people don't care if Nintendo have a handheld with extremely poor battery life. "
Unfortunately that's indicative of everything connected to Sony and the PlayStation brand right now; even before it's announced. People have spent the past five years moaning about Sony's emphasis of "console" experiences on the PSP. The same people are getting hyped over playing Ocarina Of Time and Metal Gear Solid 3 on the 3DS. Unfortunately Sony will have to battle the same media smear campaign the PS3 launched to with the PSP2 -- in fact, it will probably be worse.

" I tried home out when I first got my PS3. I don't like it. Takes to long to load stuff, very confusing interface, and I dont give a crap what little kids have to say on the internetz =P  So ya i found it pointless. Only cool thing is the virtual movie theatre. That was novelty, though, at best. Edit: forgot to say I haven't played in awhile so I don't know a whole lot about what improvements they've done but I do know they've been working on improving it. "
They've improved all the things you didn't like about it. The interface has been overhauled (it's now like the XMB), the load-times are comparable with a standard web-page, and, well, you probably still won't give a crap what kids have to say but -- hey -- there's actually stuff to do now so you completely ignore them and get on with whatever else you want to look at.

" Killzone 3, is at the moment a kernel of shit from what Killzone 2 did storywise. What I would've loved would be that the game switched you to playing as several Helghast for years, maybe even generations leading up to the point we are now. As far as I'm concerned, I have way more sympathy for them and would love to see some Helghast  soldiers fleshed out as real people having to deal with these stupid assholes invading their planet by the time we catch up with the time line of Killzone 2. Of course, I learned that asking for any pathos and character development from Guerilla is moot when they were more excited about the loading screens for Killzone 2. "

I'd also like a game where you play as the Helghast, but it's not going to happen in the current story arc.

" My impression is that they've got a fairly weak base story/characters/universe and are adding as much production value as they can to try and make up for it. I don't know if the main characters are supposed to be hatred-inducing to tell a grittier story, but it doesn't work when I the player am forced to make the short-sighted, fairly clearly bad decision to not kill/incapacitate/court marshall Rico even after he murders another soldier. (Remember that scene in the mech? That guy didn't get back up.) I'd like to think the writers can get their heads out of their asses and stop pidgeonholing me with this stuff for KZ3, but I doubt they will. "

That's actually not true. The universe and back story is the best part of Killzone. That's actually why people were so disappointed that Killzone 2 failed to explore any of it.

The worst thing about Killzone 2 (aside from the fabled controls) was the characters. The awful, awful characters. With the sequel out in around a month, I've been wondering whether they've actually managed to produce an interesting cast this time. We know the controls are fixed (the beta was awesome), but I've been worrying about the re-appearance of Rico and company.

It's not much to go on, but this shortened story trailer appears to have rectified some problems. The characters seem a little more rounded and the voice acting is a big step forward. It's still far too early to say for certain, but I thought this was a really impressive trailer.

Can't wait for the game.

Prom is over-rated anyway. It's not like American Pie or anything. Well mine wasn't.

I wished I was that cool.

The whole "Play Create Share" thing Sony's been pushing. I was certain we'd have seen a bunch of copy-cats from the other platform holders and publishers by now, but it hasn't really happened.

Yeah, I really enjoy The Shoot's aesthetic. It's one of the prettier Move titles actually.

So what you're saying is that you didn't like LittleBigPlanet and still don't like LittleBigPlanet. That's nice. Plenty of other people do.

Also: the physics are far from broken. They make complete sense in the world Sackboy interacts with. I understand if they're not specifically to your tastes, but that doesn't make them "broken". And the beta was AMAZING. But I loved the first LBP so... y'know.
