This might not be a surprise, but 1993 was one of the greatest years ever for music. Punk, Grunge, R&B, and even Industrial music correlated during this time. Progressive Metal like Tool also paved their way in 1993.
1993 was after Vanilla Ice, Madonna, and MC hammer, but before Kurt's death.
I'm going to start off with 1990-1996, which was the golden era of music.
Eurodance was the main music in nightclubs, and breakdancing was still acceptable during this period of time. Occasionaly a rap song would be played, but it would be rap with actual R&B, like Montell Jordan. These songs had soul, something clubs don't have today. There isn't even a nightlife anymore, or atleast how I knew it back in 1993.
Grunge was the main music in popular culture, and although it wasn't liked by everyone, it involved good song writing, and was probably the last great era for songwriting in general. If you didn't like Grunge, you still had R.E.M, The Pixies, and Mr. Bungle.
It wasn't until 1997 that boy bands, britney spears, and all that crap started to come out. But there was still legit music like Radiohead's OK Computer, No Doubt, Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Deftones. It wasn't until 1999, that music took a turn for the worst, and I am sincere on this. Limp Bizkit and a whole strand of bad Nu-Metal bands started to come out, but that wasn't the worst.
The worst was the year 2000-up, when Nickelback, Emo bands like My Chemical Romance, and Fallout Boy became the norm. This led to the downfall of music, now with Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
But let's remember the 90's, because that was the last great era of music. Now, jump around
