Abby has never heard of Neo Geo? hum.

My first reaction too. I get that she may not be into videogames as much as some GB fans etc, but I thought it was a fairly well-known system?

I keep reminding myself that I'm four years older than Abby and that may play a part in the knowledge gap, but there's lots of stuff she hasn't heard of that leaves me confused.

I'm 26 and I never heard of the NeoGeo, 3DO, Commodore 64, Amiga, etc. until I started coming to Giant Bomb a few years ago. I'm not sure where else I would've ever heard of these more (imo) obscure systems.

Is it just me or was Rorie the only one who could play Crawl correctly? He was the only one that used his special all game. Brad was whining about not being able to catch anyone when he has a special that does great damage over a large area. Or did I miss something?

Rorie, from watching him throughout the years, is usually good at games. Not as well-rounded as Jeff, but Rorie can get it in. I think it was all that time being "Boss of Bosses" and playing video games longer than the other guys get to because he doesn't review/cover stuff anymore.

as long as we acknowledge in every video how utterly, utterly terrible in an almost offensive way brad is at every game, ever. [/S]

Brad only had the dodge roll, which he did try to use to close the distance in those situations. Didn't look like he had any other options from what I saw.

@alex I had the EXACT same reaction to that camera pan. So bizarre.

I paused the video to check the comments and make sure I wasn't the only one.

Artificial Sweeteners tastes foul, and I don't believe it's good for you. Just stop drinking sodas altogether.

Edit: How can you even drink so many sodas in a day. Took a minute to look it up. This is an eye opener.

Loading Video...

Eye opener? No, it's full of lies and bullshit, and I'd be more inclined to believe anything in that video if it wasn't posted on Joseph Mercola's YouTube page, noted quack and alternative medicine proponent. He also believes sunscreen increases skin cancer (because he sells his own "natural" sun screen) and AIDS is caused by "psychological stress", not HIV.

Yes, aspartame breaks down into formaldehyde and methanol. So do many, many other things you consume daily. The amount of formaldehyde and methanol that is produced is so low that they get metabolized super fast. Tomatoes contain will produce more methanol, but nobody ever goes on an anti-tomato crusade. It's just one of those things that sounds super scary to the non-scientific public.

That Harvard study? Here is the conclusion of their paper:

CONCLUSION:

Although our findings preserve the possibility of a detrimental effect of a constituent of diet soda, such as aspartame, on select cancers, the inconsistent sex effects and occurrence of an apparent cancer risk in individuals who consume regular soda do not permit the ruling out of chance as an explanation.

Not exactly a definitive closing statement there. Hell, the data was so tenuous, this was sent out as a press release by that hospital later that week:

It has come to our attention that the scientific leaders at Brigham and Women’s Hospital did not have an opportunity, prior to today, to review the findings of the paper entitled “Consumption of Artificial Sweetener and Sugar Containing Soda and the Risk of Lymphoma and Leukemia in Men and Women”, to be published in today’s Journal of Clinical Nutrition (sic). Upon review of the findings, the consensus of our scientific leaders is that the data is weak, and that BWH Media Relations was premature in the promotion of this work. We apologize for the time you have invested in this story.

So yeah, that video is bullshit. I apologize for going on a mini-tirade, but as a scientist nothing sets me off more than bad pseudo-science by quacks who have their own agendas.
