I've been in an Older Game Hole most of the year. Gran Turismo 7 came back to me heavy at one point. I've got 50 hours in Yakuza 7, though as much as I anticipated the much hyped gridlock of its later chapters I still wasn't prepared and I'm sad about it.

Does this mean you were under leveled or the story wrecked you? I recently started Y7 and wish I had played it during quarantine, so I could just dedicate time to it.

We are a quarter into 2023 (Jeepers creepers, I had the thought earlier today wondering if I had bought my dad a birthday present yet, because I thought it was January). What's your game of the year so far?
For games that released in 2023, it looks like it's Elderand so far for me. However, I'm still working on RE4R, Metroid Prime Remastered and Like A Dragon: Ishin. I have not even picked up Hogwarts Legacy yet.

I'm partially curious, because I can't help but feel I'm forgetting some game releases.

I don't think I even knew there was a way to play a particular person.

I had fun with Ghostwire Tokyo. It felt like being The Avatar. I did reach a point where I didn't want to do any more side stuff, but that was totally fine!

That's neat! Two questions though:

1) Why is there not a game for 2021?

2) How did you decide on a game in 2022 being a defining or important given that we will have no idea on its impact for the future?

I have some differing opinions on some of the years, but overall, the list of games looks pretty solid up through 2020. I personally struggle to say that an updated edition of a game that released 9 years earlier is the most important game of 2022.

@sombre: I hope you applied. The worst case scenario is that you aren't hired, which just puts you in the same boat you currently are. The best case is a better job. Your job won't improve by doing nothing.

@noboners: Two quick thoughts. The OP mentioned the currency being pounds, so they're in the UK. Second, the unemployment rate in the US is the lowest it has been since 1969.

I think it's an exposure bias. In hindsight, Ocarina of Time is not a 98/100. However, compared to everything else available at the time, it probably was. That's part of the issue. We have been exposed to more and more amazing games that it takes more and more to amaze us. Hogwarts Legacy is sitting around 83/100. If you could somehow drop that game into people's laps in 1998 exactly as it is today, their minds would be blown and it would be getting a lot of perfect scores.

I love Blitzball. I love FFX as well, but these days, every time I start a new game, I end up putting like 50 hours into Blitzball before moving the story at all.

I just tried to buy Perfect Dark yesterday on the Xbox 360 and the purchase could not be completed. I asked Xbox support about this and it turns out this game is one of the dozens of games that are in the process of being delisted and dozens more are being removed soon. Far more than what was originally reported on the February document. Start buying them now if you can because it seems like the marketplace is going to be empty soon.

Is Rare Replay still available? Perfect Dark is available on that.
