Best of 2010

These are the top games THAT I PLAYED.  Sure, maybe games such as Starcraft II, Civilization V and Super Mario Galaxy 2 might have been on this list if I had played them, but I didn't want to throw games on here just because they received great review scores and are in everyone else's GOTY lists.   I feel that this is one of the weaker years for gaming in recent years as it was difficult to come up with a full list of 10 games.

List items

  • Most people think this game is good, but not great. I disagree. This game has the best atmosphere I have ever seen in a video game, and takes Crysis' crown as the best looking game on PC. Playing on harder difficulties really lets this game shine.

  • In my opinion, this game took everything good from the Grand Theft Auto games and polished it while keeping the genre feeling very fresh. Rockstar learned from previous experiences and made a very good online experience, interesting characters, and memorable story.

  • This is the one game on my list that I have yet to finish yet, however from what I have played I feel it can't be lower on the list than #3.

  • Yes, this game has multiple flaws and bugs. However, offering many improvements on Fallout 3 including an increased sense of choices impacting the story and improved gameplay made me really enjoy this game. This is also the game I spent the most hours playing this year.

  • Although this game is not completely new, it was awesome to once again travel back to the world of Pokemon that I had experienced many times before. The addition of the PokeWalker was a welcome surprise.

  • I really loved the atmosphere and exploration involved in this game. A lot of the small pieces such as the random emissions and artifact hunting added to my enjoyment of this game.

  • While it is easy to say that this game relies heavily on set pieces and scripted events, I cannot bring myself to say that I did not like them. Everything about this game just felt like a never ending roller-coaster ride that I didn't want to get off of. The game keeps the polished gameplay intact that has been present in the last two Call of Duty titles.

  • While despised by many hardcore Battlefield 2 PC players, I really enjoyed Bad Company 2 and everything it offered. This is also my favorite multiplayer game from the past year as I felt DICE improved the vehicle combat and classes from the original Bad Company.

  • I was very skeptical about this game before it was released, however once I actually played it all of that went away. This game features some of the best characters and story I have seen in a game yet.

  • This game definitely had some flaws, but what I loved about it was the online component. The ability to build your own town and let others buy from your merchants and group up for quests in each others towns gave it a nice semi-MMO feel which I feel is a good starting point for the sequel.
