Anyone want a Free Game?

Yeah well so do I. I don't have 60 bucks to shell out for every single game that looks good. Remember when games only cost $20-$40, as games keep advancing the man power needed to make them go up. I can't help but expect the prices will do the same. These "3D" games might be a good excuse to crank up that pricing. I can't imagine a game costing $70+ dollars without a peripheral. Gaming is starting to become an expensive hobby.

$20-40? I have no idea wtf you've been smoking but dude, hand me some of that shit.

As for 3D, fuck 3D. Game prices need to go up NOW, not when some mystery future technology get's introduced. Development costs are way too high right now.

Also, go download Portal, it's free. Or, you know, just be a prick and pirate everything.

I'm not whining, I'm just saying the prices will start to drive people away.

Pirating is for dicks who want the industry to crash and burn.

I have portal...BFH, AVA, all that good stuff.

Funny thing about this? I could import a game, get it about a week earlier, and pay half that price including shipping.
The nice beaches tax is bullshit.

They are already. And they are expensive enough now. If they rank up, i'll buy lesser games, or none, as i won't shell out a premium price for just any game, it has to be awesome, as average or good won't cover it.

Where are you buying your games in Australia for upwards of 110 dollars? Most new releases are at the 80-90 range, that is unless you are shopping at EBgames.

@Ferginator4k:  You should buy online. That's what I do. A lot cheaper that way.

I remember when games used to be $50. Anyway, dude... while games cost more now, they also drop in price faster than ever. Wait 6 months and you'll be able to buy some of these games for $30 or $40. Another 6 months and they'll likely be down to $20 or $30. That's cool, man. I hardly buy any game at full price anymore. Just be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

Dude, what? Where do you buy your games? I've never seen a new release for under $100 at any shop. And yeah, never under $110 at EB.

I don't ever remember when games were a standard of $20-40. I remember when games were more expensive than they are now, when retailers and publishers could just sell games for as much as they wanted. I remember when Super Mario RPG came out for the SNES, that game was like $90. I'm happy for this $60 standard.

I don't remember when games were 20-40 dollars. In all honestly, games right now are the cheapest I've ever seen. Actually no, a few years ago the 360 had a lot of titles that came out brand new for 49.99 canadian. I don't know why the notched up the price though. But still I can remember buying N64 games for 70 CAD

I remember buying Sega Genesis games for about $80 to $90 dollars. I also remember consoles after that would have about the same price for their games. .Of course there's the insanity that is the Neo Geo.  Only until the Playstation did the game prices start coming down.
So really, complaining when games are only $60 is absurd. Now if the 3d games that do come out are $100 dollars then you were on to something.

I've definitely seen games more expensive in the past.  Anyone remember the $65-70 N64 cartridges?

It's not quite a 1:1 ratio, but according to google it is currently at:

1 Australian dollar = 0.8942 U.S. dollars

So yeah. Not exactly 110 but pretty damn close. Poor Aussies =[

Big W, JB Hi Fi, Kmart, most big releases are way under 110 when they come out at those shops. I got Yakuza 3 the week it came out for 72 at Kmart and that isn't a "big" release.

I don't know where you come from, but when I was saving my allowance for 2600 games, they were 50 bucks. Then on the NES, they were still 50 bucks. When I got a PS and an N64, still 50 bucks. PS2 and Xbox were 50 bucks, too. Now they're 60.

Madness, I tells you, madness!
