@swedishpop: I've searched both the comments here and Twitter but the best I can find is "Merritt was mean about my autobiography" which sucks but are mean Tweets being elevated to abuse here? It's unprofessional, petty, and a dick move to subtweet so I get the anger — that's understandable and valid for the author.
Where I get lost is how this is somehow being elevated to the level of whispered allegations of abuse that require a episode disclaimer; a concession made that is still not enough for some folks. Or how people are writing off the GB community as toxic when everything I've read here from GB members seems polite. I'm concerned people are demanding that Twitter/social media beefs carry the same weight as a serious allegation of abuse.
I love it when these threads fill up with people demanding to "take politics out of mah gaemes" then when everyone asks them why it turns out they're just struggling with the idea of art making them think. Anyway, it's a bummer but not surprising to see that Far Cry 5 is pretty bland and uses America as new set dressing but not much else. I was hoping to see them leverage being in a 1st world country to actually change up the gameplay or story.
And did Jeff land on a friggin' moose with that car?!
I was spending weeks in my tiny apartment in Oakland editing and analyzing spreadsheets. Slowly retreating inwards. Horizon Zero Dawn let me explore a vast, gorgeous, naturalistic world full of people making the best of bad situations. It pulled me back to reality and helped me bring color back into my world. Don’t let anyone ever tell you games aren’t powerful.
Damn, that really hit home with my experience in Horizon Zero Dawn. It's a sci-fi masterpiece that seems to be criminally underappreciated.
