In the words of the great Wil Wheaton: Don't be a dick.
And in the great words of Bill & Ted: Be excellent to each other.
These are pretty good words by which to live.
Sorry I missed out on last week. Sounds like I missed out on some good racing sans the championship.
I also want to say I don't like the mindset that, "it's just a game." That's like saying, "it could always be worse." Of course it could, but that's not the point. The point is someone who puts a lot of time into training, pouring over every detail, and invests a lot of the time into something, has a right to be disappointed when they fail. Otherwise it's all for naught. Does that mean they should be a dick about it? No, see my quote by Wil. But be disappointed, not at yourself, but just on what happen. And move on from it, in however long that takes you.
There's a quote I always try to keep in the back of my head when I'm playing any sot of game. It's a quote from a famous German board game designer. I've mentioned it before but I think it's worth repeating. “When playing a game, the goal is to win, but it is the goal that is important, not the winning", Reiner Knizia. It means that we should focus on winning but when we stray from that we stray from the confines of the rule-set (grief-ing) and make it an unenjoyable experience. When trying to win, we are all striving for the same goal, and nothing should come in the way of that (except the rules) no matter our position or how we are doing.
Obviously I wasn't there and I don't know what happen but wanted to share some thoughts on this issue that I've dealt with a lot. Bad days happen, guys. Move on from it, but learn from it. And don't let the bad sully the good.
You're all ah-maayy-zing!!!
