@oursin_360: By themselves, nothing really other than what you see in the video clips. I'm someone with nearly 700 hours in the game, but I've not played regularly in almost 6 months. I think for most people, Elite Dangerous is going to be like Eve Online, fun to read about, but boring as hell to actually play.

A few days ago, a player on Xbox One made first contact with a (newly enabled) alien scout craft. This is a big deal because players have been searching for and speculating about the existence of the Thargoids in E:D since shortly after the launch. The devs have been teasing out hints and little details in-game over the last year and a half in an almost ARG-like fashion. The first video evidence was three Xbox dvr clips of different encounters. The other normal ship in clip 2 is an bot, not a human. Anyway, here's the video:

Yeah, I do what Dan does. It's not that I don't like or won't drink straight milk. It's just that the milk that's left after a bowl of cereal can have a really weird taste from all the sugary mess depending on the cereal.

Can we discard the term "Laptop" now, at least for gaming laptops and change it in to something else? Because things like this won't sit on your lap.

To be fair, the manufacturers have been using the term "notebook" for a good while now.

@magmamud: I'm someone whose politics fall more towards the other side than your typical millennial or Californian (even though I am a millennial), and it's frustrating sometimes to feel as if your position is under attack without people really understanding what it is. Basically, the feeling is that any discrimination in favor of a minority could be discrimination against a potentially better majority hire. Equal opportunity means do not discriminate for or against; hire only on merit. I will grant, the Giant Bomb position as an entertainment personality is a bit more unique than your typical job in that merit can be tough to quantitatively determine.

The other position is affirmative action, which is the preferential selection of historically disadvantaged minorities in order to correct an overrepresentation of the majority. Ideally, they want the makeup of any organization to represent the demographics of the county as a whole, even if that means deliberate discrimination during hiring to achieve the desired quotas.

So the whole conversation is politics really, and I can understand why, after the election, the staff are tired of seeing it. On the flip side, I can also understand why users are so fired up about it. I won't derail the thread any further, but I did want to try and neutrally lay out what people's feelings are and where they're coming from.

I can't envision a setup that brings those 3 endings back to a single starting point without also traveling so far into the future that it might as well be a different galaxy anyway. The only workable scenario for a direct sequel is for them to choose one canon ending (Destroy), but I very much doubt they're willing to do that, at least in the near term.

I wish they'd have just done that. After all, Destroy is the ultimate conclusion that they'd been foreshadowing since the very beginning, even if they later tried to paint it as a desperate Final Solution to the AI Question kind of choice. Synthesis was such hippie BS that I felt my IQ dropping just watching that ending.

@onemanarmyy: So you'll hear people say things like "Sunday next week" on a Thursday and they don't mean three days from now, they mean ten. We treat Sunday as part of the weekend, it just shows up first on our calendars.

@freedom4556: The United States is a member of the ISO, so they agree to those standards set by the ISO. So every calander you say you've used is in an incorrect format. Standards dont have to be enforced for everything and I doubt there's any penalty for not following it.

Monday is the first day of the week.

So I guess what's so wild about all this is that I'm currently surrounded by about six different calendars of different brands here in the office right now. Everybody got a new one for Christmas and the old ones are still sitting on top of the trash. They all start Sunday.
